Cat poops on the floor in the same spot over and over?

I adopted a young female that will not poop in the box, but I have not noticed any pee anywhere around the house! I do have another female cat, and I would get a second box, only she must be peeing in the box I already have. Please help!!! She's otherwise, an awesome cat

it's probably becauase she can still smell the sent of her poo in teh same area, you must thoroughly clean that spot to where there is no scent WHATSOEVER and then maybe consider putting the litter box in that spot

It's said that you're supposed to have 1+ litterboxes for each cat you have. So technically, according to that, you should have 3 litterboxes. However, I have 2 cats and only 2 litterboxes. You should get a 2nd litterbox because sometimes cats are territorial so she may not want to poop where the other kitty is pooping.

Clean the spot that she repeatedly poops on with Nature's Miracle. You can get it at a pet store, target, etc. It's known to be great at getting rid of scents. Normal soap won't cut it.

Place the 2nd litterbox in the newly cleaned area. That way, if she feels the need to do her business, she will likely return to that spot and now there will be a litterbox there. If that doesn't work, I would suggest bringing her to the vet. Maybe there's an underlying problem.

    Good luck! =)

The litterbox rule is: # of cats + 1. So you need more boxes around the house for two cats. Some cats like to pee in one and poop in another (go figure!) and that's just the way it is.

Female cats are frequently rivals and you may not have any success insisting that they share a litterbox.

It is marking its territory. Clean the area really well and buy some deterent spray from the pet store and spray the area really well, that stoped my Tom Cat, it contains types of citrus which cats don't like.. Also, if it not already fixed, you should get her spayed, it reduces the territorial behavior that cats have.

It is also possible that she doesn't like the texture of the cat litter, some cats are funny like that, try changing to a different type of litter. If all else fails, take the cat to the vet. When a cat continues behavior like this, sometimes there could be something wrong, like an bladder infection or other type of infection, but thats as a last resort, most likley its territorial.

When you get a new pet they always find somewhere to always go to the bathroom. Once they go to the bathroom they mark that spot as there territory for the next time they could remember that spot. Try putting the litter box on top where your cat goes to the restroom.

go to your local petco or some other supply store, they sell two different things to prevent your cat from pooping and peeing where they should not be. I've used the spray, with great results. One note my problem was with pee. bottle is like $10, so i'd try that first, there is also like one of those glade plug in thing's where you put in liquid, plug in to outlet and it warms up and lets out scent to prevent. That's like $45.

Rub her nose in it and then take her to the litter box with her "business" and put it in the litterbox with her. You will have to do this several times for it to work, if it doesn't put the litterbox over the spot where she likes to go and see if that helps. Showing her where you want her to "POOP" should help. ( a second litterbox might be your last solution.)

Generally most aninmals return to the same spot to use the bathroom. It's very difficult to discourage because they do it by scent. If you were able to manage to remove the scent, they might find someplace you really don't like and then you would start the process all over again.

the spot smells so thats where it will keep going. clean it and deorderize it (try vinegar)

also, and this may be really icky, but i would recomend getting a black like ($20 at spencers gift) and going around your house. you might be surprised how many hidden spots there are. just turn off the lights and aim the black light at the floor keeping in about 1-2 feet above the ground. you will find the spots (they will glow)

Again. Keep the litter box clean. Be glad he goes inthe same place that you can find it. My dog does that in the middle of the night if I leave too much water out or fail to take him out. Its not always the animal's fault.
