sometimes when the heat gets turned on it affects people with allergies this way. It used to happen to my ex husband this time of year. Scary, Huh? waking up to that pillow case full of blood scared me for years. the doctor said it's common. i think he used to put vaseline in his nose before he went to sleep to help it, but it didn't always work. Good Luck.

I son has awful nose bleeds, he always has. Once I swatted him on the butt just playing as he ran past me and his nose started bleeding. LOL He has been to the docotrs off and on for so many years now, he is 14.. His bleeding is so bad that he will get one in the night and not know it and wake up and it looks like someone was killed in his bed. The best reason we have found is that all the tiny little blood vessels in his nose are right at the surface and not protected by a layer of skin so it doesn't take much to break them open. My son uses nasal spray and it seems to keep everything moist to the point that the vessels are more flexable and break less. Once the doctors used some silver stuff on the vesels I am not sure what it was called but it only worked for a short time. The next step is cartazation and burn the ends of the vessels. Talk to your doctor there are alot of ways to help calm the bleeding down. P.S while you are having this problem stay away from asprin or anything that thinns the blood, that can cause you a serious problem. So far the best thing we have found is having a few cool air misters in the house to keep the air moist and the nasal spray, just normal saline spray you can get over the counter. The more moister you have in the air in your home the better for you and everyone, it just keeps the vessels from becoming dry and breaking. Good luck

Even a little blood looks like a lot but if it is a lot of blood they should go to the doctor. The fact they are both having nosebleeds is puzzling.

A simple cause of nosebleeds is dry air, for example when a house is heated during the winter, blood vessels in the nose can "crack"

In this case a humidifier can help

The thin wall of the vein in the nose is subject to being the villain in this process.. Can easily be remedied by having your doc cauterize it. Has worked for me for 60 years.

nasal tissues are too dry, Not enough humidity causes problems too. Saline nasal sprays work great for keeping the nasal passages moist and it make breathing though your nose easier

  • no clue... but using a cold rag on the back of your neck might help it to stop bleeding.... hope that helps!

    Have a happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!
