Is there a way to deactivate a cell phones gps?

    Almost no phones have GPS. Location is done through triangulation or time delay techniques from the base station. The only way to "deactivate" the network from knowing the location of your handset is to keep the handset switched off.

    There is no way to totally deactivate GPS because 911 can always locate your location vio GPS.

    Nope, it is part of the safety system. If you have an accident it lets the police find you. If you rob a bank it lets the police find you.

    If you have a Disney phone it lets your parents track you.
