Muslim ladies: How do you do sports?

I am a very sporty person, I wear shorts for running, climbing, all that kind of stuff. I guess I have a dancers attitude about body - I'm not embarrassed, and most people I know in my community are pretty cool people who also don't have any hangups about sports attire. Anyway, I was climbing at a popular tourist spot, and I saw a lady in a Burka, only eyes showing. Now do this mean that she is limited in the type of activities that she can pursue? I mean its not like you can run a marathon in a burka, what is the deal, are you ladies sidelined by the dress codes?

P.S. I don't mean any disrepect, I'm just curious

There are some designers who did special swim suits for those ladies who cover up, kind of the diving swim suit. These ladies who cover their head with a scarf are able to wear outfits that cover the skin. Long pants, long sleeve shirts, and the like. The problem with those who cover their faces. If you ever been to a Muslim country, you can see ladies going in to the breach and swim in those Burka. Bad idea, because it is not safe for them, but how else can they enjoy the water and at the same time remain covered!

That is a good question. Some places have a separate area for those ladies to do their sports. I personally don't know how they look like when they swim when it is only women, if they wear the swim suit, or the long pant and shirts as they do on the beach!

First, Islam encourage people to learn and read and discover; therefore, if you go to any university around the world, you will notice a big number of Muslim professions and instructors. Second, islamic religious leaders don't suppress women and their rights because the Islam asks the man to respect and treat the woman well. Third, some cultures affect in the way of treating women, specially in the areas that you mentioned, then people think that comes from the religion. Forth, do not believe all every thing that you watch on TV.

i'm not a muslim, but i've many muslims friends.

for the conservative muslims, they wear track pants & short sleeve t-shirts for exercize. for swimming, they wear those 'sort-of' diving suit (without the cap, of coz).

otherwise, the rest wear the usual fitness wear.
