Title is a certificate of ownership. Usually, as an add-on, the dealer pays the registration fee upon your purchase of the vehicle. But depending on your arrangement with the dealer, the registration can be also done by the purchaser. Certificate of ownership or deed of sale or title is a requirement upon the issuance of a certificate of registration. The advantage of having the dealer process the registration of your vehicle is that you won't have to pay for the fees. If you bought your vehicle with an authorized car dealer, the certificate of registration is usually given 24 or 48 hours after the purchase. If you have bought a second hand vehicle and have bought it directly from the previous owner, you can do the filing of the registration by yourself. I hope you are now enlightened.

In this area, the car dealer takes care of all that for you. It doesn't cost anymore, and on a new car most all of the costs can be wrapped in with the financed amount of the car (if you choose to do so).
I couldn't imagine wanting to do this myself...why go to the court house, stand in line, be told you need another form, leave, go get the other form signed by the dealer, go back to the court house, and start the process all over?

Okay I'm a used car salesperson. In Florida, if you deal with a dealership, it's the dealership that takes care of the Title & Registration for you. You can transfer a registration (license plate off another vehicle onto new one) for as little as $33.35 (depending on the weight of vehicle) as much as $39.35. But if it's expired you have to pay an extra $33.35.
To transfer $33.35 to $39.35 (depending on weight)
Transfer and expired tag 33.35 plus 33.35 more
Brand new license plate can be as much as $195.00
These prices are the Department of Motor Vehicles prices!

The registration value based on the fee of your motor vehicle is a "very own property tax" and is deducted for this reason. The state will communicate with it as an "advert valorem tax" or a "motor vehicle excise tax" based on the state.
