Has anyone heard of A.B.C. Financial Service...?

located at 1004 Airport Rd, St John NF, Canada A1B3X5? I got a letter with a check concerning lottery winnings and I want to check this out before I make a total idiot out of myself. The idea is to check out this company before I send money to the address concerned. I'm no fool, but the check is on a US bank (Wachovia) and the bank says it's real. However, I'm not wiring ANYTHING until I hear from someone else...

Funny you should ask. My son got same letter but under different bank than Wachovia. Took it to our credit union. Totally a scam! Check is counterfeit too (notice no watermark on the back of it either). Numerous mispellings on letter and check. Person who answered phone when bank personnel called number in the letter was foreign. They said so many scams are coming out of Canada they can't keep up with them, and many are operated by citizens of Nigeria, Guana, and India (note the accents when you call them). Either take it to the Postal Investigation Unit so they can stop these guys or burn it, just don't cash it or you owe the bank the whole amount plus fees. Good luck, hope this was helpful.

They didn't illegally aquire anything. They bought the debt from the health club, and they can and will chase you for what's owed.
