You ever watch "Mythbusters"? There is no time rule..... once its down, its down. And are talking like a septic tank on rural property? That must of been one heck of a dive and in which case the filth of the gum is not the only thing you have to worry about. Maybe a shower would do you some good.

you should have given it to someone else and then told them after they put it in their mouth. you should have took a picture of it on top of the sludge. shock value x10
