If you conceive of God as female, what led you to this conclusion?

I used to belive in god at one point of my life and it was female, it just made sence to me, giver of life, gentle, nurturing, that kind of thing plus there is beauty in this world a man could never have concepted, no offence men, i am a man also

People usually believe, in whatever part of the world they come from, there higher power looks something like them, right? That we are somehow the image of them.

O.k, when it comes to the us, there are two images here, male and female.

So, I think it would make sense, God as feminine, see? And God as masculine, see? Now that is actually a famous quote by someone who has spent his whole life in this field. I wish I could tell ya who.

Now, above all that. There is the "ONE", masculine and feminine powers all inclusive, cause' that has all the power of which we came out of.

Ever heard of the Rod Stewart song, "Have I told You Lately That I Love You." In it he sings, Let us give thanks to the ONE, to the ONE? That is what he is singing about.

Sexuality is a created aspect of existence. Assigning such to God is formally known as anthropomorphism or giving human qualities to that which is not human. Examples might be: sexy outfit, hairy story etc.

Within that understanding, just as woman has multiple expressions as virgin, mother, wife, so God has been understood as one with various expressions to convey the depths of theology. There is a tradition that the Spirit represents a "femininity" w/o God. Genesis speaks of the Spirit hovering over the darkness, the chaos, holding it ready for birth. Proverbs speaks of Wisdom as feminine. It also speaks of the Spirit as a divine - we have only human words - consort throughout creation. Ecclesiastes has long been "elevated" to the divine.

I suspect the illiteracy of women during much of the defining days of theology has led to a dearth of feminine imagery. Today women are increasingly in a majority in professional pastoral service. This will help rectify the tilt.

He has both characteristics. The logic goes this way. First He created Adam in His image. And from Adam He removed a large part of that female component and created Eve. With that as the logic basis, God created Adam and Eve in His image, that holding true then we have not distorted scripture to achieve the premise for the conclusion of God being both male and female characteristically speaking..

I don't believe this...in fact I'm unsure if there's a god at all. Anyway, the idea comes from that because a woman gives birth, a woman gives life then it makes sense for the ultimate giver of life, the creator of the universe to be female. Something like that.

Personally, I think Deity is both male and female. But the idea of a female creator is the oldest of human ideas...after all it is the female who gives birth to new life, NOT the male. that is the best and most basic answer to your question. Our ancestors first worship a female creator/mother goddess. This went on for thousands of years, until the males decided to put their hunter god first and, honestly, the femals allowed this mostly (I believe) to keep peace in the tribes never imagining where it would lead.

Considering that "man" was made in the image of God and that first man was Adam I am curious myself to see how others will answer this. Eve was really an afterthought if you go by scripture. God made her only because Adam was lonely and God saw he that needed a mate. The Bible does not say it made Eve in His image. He made Eve out of one of Adam's ribs.

God is not a mere human , not male not female .He is God

God is totally a male persona... eventhough biology says that this is highly improbable. Just goes to show that the bible is a man made creation!
