2002 Hyundai Accent won't reverse?

I drive a 2002 Accent with 1.6L engine/auto transmission. The car starts fine and runs okay. The car stopped going in reverse about two weeks ago. While driving forward it's good for the most part but over-revs and kicks when changing from 2nd to 3rd gear. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Actually, it sounds like your Torque Converter. I checked the HMA service website and not being able to drive in one direction is usually caused by a bad clutch/torque converter. It could also be the valve body since low fluid pressure (or air in the lines) could cause either of the problems you listed. Bring your car in and have them check those things out. It shouldn't cost too much to fix.
