Boy Scout enthusiasts... I'm looking for your input! Here's your chance to help plan a cool camp...?

I'm doing the planning for a new Boy Scout camp, on 145 acres of land in a southern state. It will be more geared toward primitive style camping, such as tent sites instead of cabins. There will probably be a restroom / shower facility, and a canoe launch area (site is on a river). What sorts of other features should I put in the camp? Parking areas? A dumpster location? Central bonfire area? Archery range? Ropes course? What do you think would make for a cool camp?

I know I'll get a bunch of smart azz remarks along with serious ones, and that's OK too.

Update:

xoven... Thanks for the offer. I'm not the camp owner or anything, so I can't make that decision. I'm just drawing up the land plan for the site. It would be really fun, though, wouldn't it?

Here are some features from popular camps I have visited:

    Trading Post

    Chapel

    Climbing Tower

Pioneering Area with bridges, towers, etc., although current Guide to Safe Scouting regulations make these lower than the old Field Books show them

Lodge for adult leaders to gather, have coffee while the boys are in merit badge classes, etc.

Safe swimming area, many camps now have pools rather than "lake swimming" like we used to do

    Sailing and canoe beach

Campfire ring, often built and maintained by the Order of the Arrow, hence typically called the "OA Ring"

Shelters for nature classes, first aid training, depending on your climate these could just be covered slabs with picnic tables, or could have screens

Those are just a few ideas. Good luck with your project.

Hey! I am an award winning artist......could you use someone to do the signage? I would LOVE to do the signage for a recreational facility like that. I could come up with some brilliant work!

Hey! Pass my name along to the owner. Would you? Yes, I think it is a great idea! How about a badge awards podium? A photo board for pics of each years participants and events? A cooking lodge where the scouts can team up and cook wilderness type foods? A wildlife trail with informational and interactive events along the trail? A general store where kids can purchase things they forgot....would be a way for the camp to make some extra money too (bug repellent, toothpaste, sunscreen etc)? A place to launch inner tubes to float around the river? A petting zoo where kids must learn to take care of the animals? Is there fish in the river to put in a fishing area and tackle hut? Good luck!

A Craft building would be great! A hiking trail with some points of interest would be good.... A Huge bonfire area is good..a stage for performing arts...Shooting ranges- archery and BB....maybe a building with a couple of classrooms for small group activities...a medical area is VIP!

Since it is on the river, what about a water safety area? If its in the south...a diving board for summer....a water slide too maybe?
