Income tax question about multi-state filing. My wife and I moved from WV to Oregon in early December 2005...
But we still owned our house in West Virginia, which did not sell until March of 2006, even though we listed it immediately upon moving. We did NOT live in WV at all in 2006, nor did we make any income, except a small profit on the sale of our house. The amount we made on the sale was well below the married couple exemption of 500,000 dollars, and we were in that house for 5 years before we moved and sold it.
So, the question is: Do we need to file a 2006 state tax return for WV, given that we did not live there, nor make any income there in all of 2006 other than the profit from the house sale?
5 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoIs John Kerry the biggest retard on the planet, or what?
I mean, COME ON! He's actually thinking about running again in '08! HELLO! Earth-to-John! NO ONE wants you to be President, democrat or republican. You had your shot, and you blew it. Then you insulted the troops. And you look like Herman Munster. He's so clueless that he's probably still holding his breath waiting for a Mondale - Ferraro recount.
15 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoI'm having a hard time dealing with guilt over being UN-happy about some recent "family news."?
I have two wonderful young children, both under 3 years of age, and I just found out my wife is pregnant again. The doctor had put her on a different birth control pill than she usually used, due to changes in our prescription drug plan, and this new baby is definitely an "oops." The problem is I DON'T WANT another baby, and I feel horrible for feeling that way! Abortion is not an option because we're both pro life. Adoption is out too. I'd never give up my own flesh and blood. So this baby is coming, like it or not. The advice I am looking for relates to how to develop a better attitude about it, and stop feeling so depressed over the whole notion.

current ethnic conflict in Iraq a "Civil War" or not?
We'll spend months arguing the finer points of this debate, meanwhile doing nothing to stop the killing. Yeah, great use of our time there, huh?
7 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoI used to believe in the idealism behind different cultures or ethnic groups living side by side in harmony...
But... Unfortunately, 5,000 years of human history seems to militate against this notion, and frankly, I'm not seeing where we've made much progress, even in this so-called "age of human enlightenment." Consider the Holocaust, Stalin's purges, Rwanda, Darfur, Palestine / Israel, Iraq, Bosnia, Pol Pot, etc. All within the last 65 years or so.
Is it a lost cause? Does it simply fly too hard in the face of basic human nature to expect us to live in harmony with each other? If so, what is to be done? Sorry to ask such a depressing question!

11 AnswersJokes & Riddles1 decade agoBoy Scout enthusiasts... I'm looking for your input! Here's your chance to help plan a cool camp...?
I'm doing the planning for a new Boy Scout camp, on 145 acres of land in a southern state. It will be more geared toward primitive style camping, such as tent sites instead of cabins. There will probably be a restroom / shower facility, and a canoe launch area (site is on a river). What sorts of other features should I put in the camp? Parking areas? A dumpster location? Central bonfire area? Archery range? Ropes course? What do you think would make for a cool camp?

2 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoQuestions about marriage and debts, and marital assets.?
In general, once two people get married are they responsible for the debts that each bring into the marriage, or only the debts they incur after they are married? For example, if I marry someone with $5000 in debt, and she suddenly passes away, am I responsible for the debt? Morbid example, but you get the idea.
Similarly, I've heard that all income earned by a married person is considered a joint marital asset, EXCEPT money that is inherited from a relative's estate. True?

Do you think this is true? If so, to what degree? Is it fair to judge either group by the actions of their extreme wing?
I would say the one obvious difference is that almost all Christians are very quick to denounce and distance themselves from the KKK, whereas most moderate Muslims seem to be too afraid to confront the radicals in their own religion - or worse- actually DEFEND their actions. Fair?

Muslims in Turkey are violently protesting Pope Benedict's upcoming visit, threatening to kill him over remarks he made a few months ago about Islam being a violent religion.
Now - doesn't that just PROVE, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that his remarks were correct? Laughing my *azz* off!!!
