Do these verses say Jesus is God?
John 1:1--"In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
John 20:28--"Thomas said to him 'My Lord and my God!'"
Hebrews 1:8--"About the Son he says 'Your throne , O God, will last forever and ever.'" This Heb. vs. sounds like God is calling Jesus God. I looked up the Greek word for God, and it was the same word for all 3 verses. The definition is "deity, supreme divinity, God."
The Old Test. seems to be plain only one true God exists. Isaiah 44;6, 45:5, 46:9 say that there is one God, there is no other.
Also, Genesis 1 says God created everything, yet John 1:3 says everything was created by Jesus, that is if Jesus is the Word, which the rest of John seems to make it plain that he is the Word. Colossians !:15-17 verify he is the creator. Phil. 2:5-11 seems to say he released some of his divine attributes in order to become human - example: an omnipresent God couldn't exist in a finite human body. Also it would kill us to see God in his full glory. ??
Wow! A couple people sounded quite offended. That was not my intent. One reply suggested I direct the question to the people it was meant for. It is meant for everyone. For those who see "eye to eye" with me.... this was a confirmation to them. For those who don't agree, I would like to know why, that is you believe the Bible. Some verses pulled out of context may sound as though Jesus is not God in the flesh, but merely a son, completely seperate, as a human son is seperate from his human father. But taking the whole Bible at it's word, Jesus is God. The issue is relevant and extremely important because Jesus is the One and True God that Christians worship. That is the dividing factor between Christianity and all other religions, including ones that claim to be Christian. If Jesus Christ is not your God, you are not a Christian. I would like for people to explain why they think these verses do say that Jesus is God if that is what they think, not just put out other verses.
Explain.

In Jesus dwells ALL the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Col.2:9 below) -
oGod the Father
oThe Holy Spirit of God the Father
oThe Word of God the Father
The only begotten son of God the Father (Jn.1:14 below), Jesus (the Word - Jn.1:1, Jn.1:14 below), His beloved Son (Matt.3:17 below), was conceived of the Holy Ghost (Matt.1:20 below).
It is God the Father who conceived in Mary (blessed among women) His very Word through His very Holy Spirit (Matt.1:20 below).
Col.2:9 For in him dwelleth ALL the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Jn.1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, (Matt.1:20, Matt.3:17 below)) full of grace and truth.
Jn.1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (Re.1:6, Lk.1:47 below).
Re.1:6And hath made us kings and priests unto God (Jn.1:1 above) AND his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Lk.1:47And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour (Jn.1:14, Jn.1:1, Re.1:6 above).
Lk.1:68 Blessed [be] the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,
Matt.3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son (Matt.1:20 below), in whom I am well pleased.
Matt.1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost (Jn.1:14, Matt.3:17 above).

Is Jesus a God? Sure he is, the scriptures say so as you pointed out. However you should also know that the bible states that the fallen Angel Satan is also called a God.
2Cor. 4:4 – “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers”
What people get confused about is not who and what is a god but who is our creator.
Yeshua/Jesus was created by his father and the two of them created everything else.
Colossians 1:15 - He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
John is simply pointing out (John 1:1) that Jesus was with God in the beginning when they were creating the earth and the heavens and he is powerful enough to be called a God.
Gen 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

John 8:40
But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God.
John 14:28
My Father is greater than I.
John 20:17

The head of Christ is God.
1 Corinthians 15:28
And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

Suggestion; 1. Go to the Genesis-Malachi part of the Bible.
2. Look up the term God; I believe you will find multiple terms for it (around 10 if my memory is correct presently on the point).
3. You may also find some terms are singular, some are PLURAL. One of the Dominant use terms 'Elohim' is plural.
May you receive a pleasant surprise today, Glory to God.
Peace Be With You.

You must understand the trinity to answer this question. I will list only a few scriptures for you. The Godhead consists of three ppl, that all work together and all our God. All are God. This is in scripture. The word TRINITY is not in scripture, but others words that have that meaning are, in the old Hebrew words. Triune God means three in one. l John 5:7 tells how the three are as one. There is only one God, as in Godhead, but these three are all God, and we worship all of GOD. the blessed trinity, three in one. 1 Tim 3:16 says that Jesus is God made in the flesh and sent to preach. Titus 2:13 tells us that Jesus is great God and Saviour. Acts 5:3-4 tells us that when we lie to the Holy Spirit, we lie to God. Just on those few scriptures, we KNOW there is a trinity, and the Bible of full of other things that point to all of this. SO many ppl question this, because it says there is only one God, but, they need to study further. GODHEAD is the title. There is Father God, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Father GOD began it all. Jesus came to save and preach. The Holy Spirit is there to lead, to convict, our conscious. We need all of God. BUt, there is no other GOd, but this one true GOD. Just remember the Godhead as a title and you can understand things a little more clearly. Once you get this, the rest all falls into place, where you used to would read things and think you have found a contradiction. There are no contradictions, there are just things we dont understand yet. The Bible is like a giant puzzle, and piece by piece we put it together, and soon it makes a whole big beautiful picture and it all becomes so clear. This is one reason why we all need to study more, to reach this level of understanding, and we find the more we know, the more there is to know. God designed it that way, so we would study. The Bible is in layers. once you understand one layer, God makes another layer more obvious. This is Biblical too. Even the Jewish ppl know this, and its in their writings, and within the Bible, once you know how to look for it. SO much to tell and not eough space here. BUt, I encourage you to study more, pray more, and just let God lead you into deeper truths. In these last days, the mysteries of the Bible are being revealed at such a rapid rape. Jesus is coming soon, and we dont want to miss anything that God wants us to know. the more we know, the more He is able to protect us and keep us from going down the wrong path, and into a deception from another person or religion. Knowledge is power. But only if it is Gods knowledge. Press on with GOd. It is pretty excitin to study this all out. The more God reveals, the more you ask more and the more you have that come to you, and on and on it goes. and pretty soon, you just cant get enough of GOds word. the more that puzzle starts fitting, the more you want all the missing pieces to complete it. God will do it if we ask. We must obey Him with what we know now, or why would He send us more, just to ignore? God is good, all the time, He is Good. Just ask and He will open the whole thing up to you, and you will wonder why you havent done this sooner. I know I surely have. BIble study is exciting, we dont just sit down and read and forget. ITs doing word studies, and just sticking with it, until we get one question resolved, then onto another. None of us have all the answers. we are all learning, but we will be held accountable for what we do know and dont know. All have equal opportunity to learn, its just how we use our time. Is it tv tonight or going to a party? Or is it Bible study? Choice is ours and ours alone to make. Choose wisely. God bless you....

Jesus is part of the triune Godhead. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost.
Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

i've got faith Jesus is the son of God, yet no longer from this quote. The be conscious "and" is the foremost. IF I stated "I honestly have an apple and an orange in my hand", i'm no longer asserting the apple is an orange, i'm describing 2 issues. If the verse replaced into caling Jesus the son of God, it may say "finding for that blessed desire, and the wonderful performing of the super God, our Saviour Jesus Christ

Who exactly was your sermon directed to ?
To convince Apostolic christians that they are correct in believing that there is only One God, and His Name is Jesus. That the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are only titles for the One True God! OR
To convince Jehovah's Witnesses ? who have their own version of the bible for themselves ?
To convince Jews, who do not acknowledge those words as truth. But acknowledge the Tanak only as the absolute truth.
To convince Muslims, who hold the Qur'an as the absolute truth.
To convince other christians, that may not see exactly "eye to eye" with you ?
To convince atheists, who follow no book as absolute truth ?
It is best to direct your question to the group of people you Really intended it to go to.
You REALLY Need a Part 2 to your Question. "AND this time direct it correctly to the ones/or groups of people you Really intend it to be for !!"
Happy Holidays.
I believe in You !! Next time you can present your questions in the proper way, to the group of people you Really intend it to be for.
This may make it a bit more convincing !!
