    Here are the 5 signs:

    1. Takes Off Own Clothes

    2. Talks about Using the Potty

    3. Does a Potty Dance?

    4. Shows an Interest in the Bathroom or Toilet

    5. Stays Dry Overnight & During Naps

You can start earlier, but many times relapses occur or the parent gets frustrated and the child learns inadvertantly that they dissapoint mommy and daddy on the potty and will fight to avoid it at all costs. If children are pressured when they are not ready, it turns into a negative experience.

My son is newly turned 2 and we sit him on the potty and reward him with a sticker on the potty board even if he doesn't go. He hasn't gone yet at all, but we are still patiently waiting. Boys are much harder to train than girls so keep your patience and smile. Remind them they are doing a good thing and reiterate during diapers that pee-pee and poopie go in the potty.

Make them proud of themselves and tell them they are Big Boys and Big girls. Do not rush it and do not push. All children potty train and those moms who brag at how soon theirs potty train make me so mad!! Don't let any one else pressure you. I have never met a healthy elementary school child still in diapers.

If she hates diapers, now is a good time to potty train.

o-my-goodness girl .. I'm having the same problem .. and my daughter is 16 months too! My daughter hates daipers .. but I heard if you start them too early it might scar them. I heard the age to start trying is 18-20 months but I want to start already. I might buy her a potty for Christmas and try to explain to her that shes getting to be a big girl now and she gotta use the potty like mommy. Well good luck .. wish me luck to! :)

I would say that if she hates her diapers then maybe it's time to start trying. I would put her in pull ups though, but tell her they are big girl underware. My daughter got real curious about the toilet around that time and we let her use it when she wanted to but we didn't do it all the time until she was two.

My son is 21 months and I've recently started working with him. From what I've read, when they start showing signs they are ready (wanting to sit on potty, telling you when they're wet, etc). I truely believe the consistency of the parent determines on how long it will take; you have to stick to it so don't start until you're ready to do that. Good luck!!

if she hates dipers then that may be a time to let you know that its time to potty train... but son is 11 months and he like to take his dipers off and pee pee on the floor all the time... so I put him on the potty and he will just cry... another thing that is good is those little plastic shorts that go over there underwear, if they pee pee or poo poo in those training pants they know that does feel very well so.. learn that potty may be the best place....Good luck

If she wants to use the potty let her, If not don't pressure her . The more you pressure her the more she will resist it. If she wants to definitely encourage her.

The new potty time Elmo is great, my son loved it and it helped with the concept of potty time.

    Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

During the daytime use big-girl panties. Make sure you ask her if she needs to go potty frequently. Give it a trial period & see! You will know if she is ready or not.
