How do I get rid of lots of weeds in my yard?

This past year pigeons roosted in the trees and they carry seeds of all kinds, now I have a bunch of different types of weeds in my yard. The bermuda grass is now going dormant and i thought of just getting some weed killer and spray it but it will kill the bermuda. HELP.

We had tons of weeds in our yard, and got pretty much rid of them all. We pulled the, then put casaron in the yard. It's some kind of powder stuff, you buy in a bag. It will prevent seeds from growing. And that's usually the problem with weeds, they are seeding. Of course, if you want to plant some flowers from seeds, they won't grow either anymore. So you just have to start those in pots. Bulbs will grow without any problem. I usually go through my yard in spring and fall, pull out the few weeds I have now, put the casaron on, and water it all down afterwards. It's important to get the casaron wet, so it works better. Hope that helps you.

"A weed is a plant out of place" A violet can be a weed if it's growing in your lawn, but if it's in your flower bed, it's a flower. Just like grass, if it's growing in your flower beds, it's a weed, but not in your lawn.

If you go the chemical route, there are two different kinds. Salt based & Ester based. Salt based is the safest to use (up to 90 degees), but the slowest to work (about 10 days here in Eastern Wisconsin). Esters work much faster (4-6 days), but are hard to work with. They are more volatile (Drifting) at higher temperatures (80 degrees and above)

Weed killers kill broadleaf weeds Not grasses. To kill grasses and weeds, use Round Up or something like it. but be very carefull. DON'T spray if there is any wind, spray early in the morning or just before sunset when the winds are down It should be dry for around 24 hours after appling. Than lightly water area.

Digging out the weeds is time consuming and your not going to get them all. Such as Ground Ivy, each leaf has a root attached to it. If you don't get them all, a new plant starts from that leaf.

Anything like Quack grass or Crab grass won't die using a weed killer, because they're in the grass family. You can put down a Crab Grass preventative to stop the seed from germinating. But it also stops ALL seed from germinating. Crab Grass preventative lasts about 12 weeks depending on weather conditions. Too much rain and it last only 8-10 weeks, so don't put it on too soon. You have until the ground temp. gets to 54 degrees @ night. After that, seed can germinate.

I think that white powder is similiar to PREEN.

I hope this helps a little

if the grass has gone dormant, get some weed-b-gone and treat your broadleaf weeds with it. Since they are green, they'll be easy to spot. It may take a while since it's getting colder for it to work, but it is very effective on weeds.

Check the bottle for use on bermuda grass. I have fescue and use it all of the time.. no troubles.

You can get selected type herbicides that will kill the weeds but not your grass, try to find a herbicide which has MCPA, Bromoxynil & Dicamda in them for the best results, also don't cut your grass to short as this allows weed infestation.

only mow it. in case you do no longer suggestions some complicated artwork, only pull it out. I honestly have them in my backyard too. I only go away them on my own because of the fact butterflies or different little creature would desire to lay their eggs there. a sprint weed does no longer harm. Butterflies on your backyard are nicely worth putting up with pesky little weeds, I say. honestly the weeds are particularly sturdy finding. I positioned them in my flower pots as filling vegetation. artwork nicely with purple/orange/pink showy vegetation. do no longer use weed killer, ever. Weed killer won't kill in basic terms the weed. extra in all probability it is going to kill the butterflies yet no longer the weed. it is going to kill little birds (like sparrows or finches) that feed on the floor too. those birds sing nicely.
