Yeah I thought it would have been a good idea. there is no need to have Hulks on the battlefield or on a aircraft carrier, but with mild weight lifting program coupled with standard military cardio and calstenics, I think all of us "boot's" would have been alot more physically fit. Plus the crap that they serve us at mess was not the healthiest things in the world.**** I wasnt complaining though.

We did lots of running and those delightful pushups several hundred times a day. As miserable as it was, I was in the best shape of my life. Weight training, per se, can be done after you finish Basic. Or before. Believe me, you will not want to spend any time lifting weights during Basic - you ain't gonna have time. As I mentioned, after Basic, when you are assigned to a duty station or during AIT, you will have plenty of time for weight training.

No, because the military wants little skinny people who can run all day. Adding muscle to a frame is hard on joints and backs, and worsens the effects of running. The only thing running is good for in a human is the heart.

No, they have a short time to teach a lot of information, adding weightlifting will take away from valuable training time. The recruits will have plenty of time to workout after they graduate and the running, sit-ups and push-ups get them into good condition.

Weight training is an anaerobic activity - not very condusive to the mostly aerobic demands required by military activity and training.

If that is what you want then do not connect the militia. You connect the militia to change right into a soldier. in case you are able to not cope with worry-free preparation you do not belong there. Any soldier at any time might want to correctly take delivery of an better job description for the time of cases of conflict and disaster. My husband change into an enlisted dental tech in the Air pressure. you may want to imagine that job is amazingly probability-free, top? yet after 9-eleven he nonetheless had an same job yet he change into also educated in chemical conflict and change into put in the bucket to bypass to Iraq as a med tech. So his job might want to were to bypass %. up bodies in the course of the battling. no longer very probability-free. i change into no longer satisfied about it yet he's amazingly courageous and change into prepared to do it. once you signal your dedication you belong to the authorities and they could allow you to recognize precisely what you are able to and can't do. fortuitously he did no longer might want to bypass because he change into universal to dental college and is now an officer. Commissioned Officer preparation is likely better of what you're taking into consideration yet they have even replaced that. It has much better actual demands than it used to. also even after being in the militia the PT has gotten much better rigorous. there have been too many fat human beings in the Air pressure so that they are very strict about workout recurring. It sounds like you purely choose something basic. If that is genuine, militia existence isn't for you.

I know that when my son went to Marine boot camp, it was offered, but was not mandatory. I guess this is because being able to run fast and shoot well are more likely to save one's life than is weight training.

  • No now a day the focus in BMT is to remake you mentally the psysical part is just to in creat stress and to see if you can handle it. Also it helps to insure order by maintaining a routine.

Kettle bell would be a great addition to BMT... full body workout and keeps the cardio up without packing too much muscle...

i don't think so, because endurance was the focus of the training, not strength. i would have liked it if they have added in some weights, though.
