Matte is somewhat texturized with no visable sheen. Semi glass is smooth with a moderate amount of sheen. I prefer Matte. It looks a lot classier.

Semi gloss paper is kinda shiny, matt paper has no shine and is kind dull. I like matte better because there will not be a glare on the surface.

depends on your printer, they are both coated papers one just has a matte finish if your imaging with a lazer printer it wont matter because the toner will stay on top of the paper so the only place that will be real shiny will be the white parts but if your using a ink jet or a wet toner printer the gloss will be a shiner finish, i hope this helps you i am a printer by trade
