'99 Alero....?

My Alero won't shift out of park. It turns on fine, you push down the break, and try to shift it, and it won't, like its stuck? Anyone know why?

    The lock out solenoid isn't working, or the switch from the brake to release the shifter is bad. Good luck.

    maybe the linkage is binding.try unhooking it from the tranny and try shifting it from the tranny,thay way you can rule out the tranny,if it goes in gear.

    more than likely the switch that is on your brake pedal is bad or needs adjusted.
