How to cook brown rice in microwave?
So, can you cook brown rice in the microwave? I have the Pampered Chef microwave rice cooker and I lost the instruction book. So what should I do?
Also, everytime I cook brown rice it's still a little hard can that be avoided?
I usually make white rice but am now trying to cook brown rice dishes because it's healthier BUT how do I make it tast good?
Any advise is welcome. Thanks! :)

1 cup of brown rice
1.5 cups of chicken stock
1 tablespoon of butter, margarine or olive oil (my favorite)
Dash of salt (or whatever seasoning you like)
Nuke in a dish for 5 minutes.

I would not suggest cooking brown rice in the microwave- it really doesn't save much time. In a sauce pan covered it will take about 40-45 minutes for brown rice to steam. You might save 10 minutes in the microwave but I always have it boil over and make a mess that takes 10 minutes to clean up. And yes you do need to vent the plastic wrap. However if you make a lot of brown rice at once it freezes great and then you can microwave it with just a sprinkle of water to reheat.

1. Brown rice takes longer to cook than white rice
2. Brown rice needs more liquid then white rice
3. for more flavor try using chicken or veggie broth instead of water or half and half for the amount of liquid needed
4. try calling a Pampered Chef rep and see if there is a way you can get another instruction book or look on their website www.pamperedchef.com for info
