HELP!! I Have car problems and dont know what is wrong!?
Driving on the freeway, the car jolted, quickly loss power but regained it, then a couple of min. later it did it again and regained power, then again but this time it did it three times then lost all power as I pressed on the gas pedal. I tried to start it again and it felt like it wanted to start a couple of times then after i tried it a 3rd or 4th time, it wouldnt even begin to kick over. Possible fuel injector or pump?
Please help as this is my only vehicle and i dont want to impose on anyone for a ride. Thanks!
the car is a 99 Chevy S-10. i just replaced the battery a few month ago and i put fuel in the car the day prior to this happening.

It sounds like your fuel pump. Take it to a shop and have them look at it to make sure there is no electrical problems.

It does sound like the fuel pump has died. Now the bad news is if your vehicle is fuel injected then the odds are that the fuel pump is inside the fuel tank and the tank will have to come out of the vehicle (fairly major job) to put a new fuel pump in.Taking the vehicle to a TRUSTED mechanic is your next step.

There are a few possibilities. One is ignition. Depending on the age of the car, it could be an ignition module, a coil, or a distributor. Possibly the fuel system Dumb question, but is there gas in the tank? I ask, because I had a car die with a quarter tank left, but the gauge had died and I was really out of gas. Less likely, but possible, it could be inside the engine, a piston collapsed.

I'd put my money on an engine grounding problem. Hook a jumper cable from the negative battery terminal to any metal part of the engine. Did you kill the battery, is that why it stopped turning over, or was it sudden. Well, worst thing that happens is you waste three minutes grounding the engine and nothing happens. Best thing that could happen is you fix the problem. Try grounding the engine.

It could be a fuel injector or pump or filter- something to not get the gas to the cylinder. checked your gas gage lately?
the other thing it could be is no spark. how many miles and when is the last time you changed your plugs and wires?
maybe you need a new battery too?

Yeah its sounds like a fuel pump issue. I don't know how old your car is but when it usely is does that your fuel pump is about to go out.

So, at the same time as you've been sitting in line on the pressure with the help of your automobile smelled humorous and the temperature gauge change into pegged at warm. the first ingredient to do is to envision the oil and coolant stages. at the same time as your checking your oil, smell the dipstick and if it has a burnt smell, think ofyou've got overheated the engine sufficient that there are issues contained in the motor. If no longer, and your stages were low, you topped them off, and the engine looks to run okay, then you fairly can likely proceed to pressure it for the fast while period. yet, you'll favor to discover the position your oil or coolant leak is placed.

NEVER replace parts till problem is known. old mechanics proverb

it could be the pump, but i would first check the gas filter and fuel pump regulator.
