Who does the bills in your family?
My wife and I have different perspectives on this. She used to do the bills, but I now do the bills.

My husband and I both sit down weekly and figure our bills. This way we both know exactly where we stand financially & are aware of how much we are saving & our future finance needs, plus we figure what we can spend weekly or need to save for upcomming larger bills (Ins, etc...) This way we aren't spending money we don't have. No secrets or stress over hiding bills or playing catch up etc...Luckily we both have the same vision for our future so it works for us to do it this way and it gives us time together to talk , plan & just spend some uninterrupted time together planning our future. It has actually brought us closer in our marriage.

I found that my husband kept getting busy and forgetting to get them done. So since I'm a stay-at-home mom and I'm more organized and I remember things more then him, I decided to take them over and it hasn't been a problem for us since. Plus he did the books funny and I never really knew how much money was in the account and whether I could go buy groceries. I think you just need to figure out who would be the best person for the job.

I used to do them. Hubby didnt empathize with how tough it could be either. He would want to spend money on things that we couldnt afford or he would get upset if we ran out of money. So when he offered to do them ( bc of course he could do it better), I said HERE please take them :). Now i think he "gets it". I think its good if both partners take a good long turn at the bills. Not just a short stint..but having to deal with holidays, surprise expenses, vacations, etc. We dont argue about money anymore. :D

My husband does the bills although, I am the one with the finance background. I love it. I don't have to worry about what is being paid or when.

I do, my husband is entirely to unorganized!!! If they become a problem, why don't you do them together, sit down and work out a budget, then there will be no misunderstandings.
