Minnesota and 10,000 Lakes?
I was wondering who would actually take the time to go and count all the individual lakes in Minnesota, and what would classify as a lake (size)? Have always wondered this since I saw this on one of the new quarters...thanks!

The state's nickname, The Land of 10,000 Lakes, is not an exaggeration! There are 11,842 lakes over 10 acres in size. The question who counted remains, mmm... a student hired for the summer?

they have been counted ( size is relative Waldon Pond is actually a large lake by most standards )
had to search this has more than 12,000 but Michigan claims over 11,000 ( and says that you are never more than 6 miles from a lake anywhere in the state )
