help....how do you insert a tampon?

I have never used tampons before. I tried inserting a tampon at the start of my period, this week, but it kind of came back out. What am I doing wrong?

the most common rookie mistake is not putting it in far enough

Hopefully you've read the instructions on the box and asked your mom already, if so.... Get in a comfortable position and insert the tampon until your fingers meet your skin. You shouldn't feel a thing if it's inserted properly. It takes practice but you will get the hang of it. Keep trying until you feel comfortable.

I am very happy with tampons. I hardly ever have accidents, and I am wayyy more comfortable and drier during that time. It's worth the practice and you will never look at another tampon again!

the best thing is to ask your mom or read the directions on the paper inside the box, but if youve done that i can KIND of explain, the best way to use them when i first started, was to actually sit on the ground with your legs back leaning back a little. that way its easier insertion, then just put your thumb and index finger on the ridges in the middle of the tampon, what u will want to do, is basically where your fingers and those ridges are, were those 2 peices meet, is push the tampon in until your fingers are touching your skin, its basically going in as far as those ridges and ur fingers are, and then u just push the peice at the end inwards, and that will push the tampon inside of you, and they have those ridges there to kind of guide u how far in you go, after u push the long peice in, and the plastic part is out, u will jsut have strings hanging down. what u can actually do is just pull the tampon on, so you are familiar with it, and just insert another one. kind of like practice. i would also start with the regular sized tampons, they are a little easier and more comfortable. good luck!

It may take using an entire box to get it right...but once you do, you'll never use anything else. Get a small bottle of KY liquid and apply it to the tip of the tampon - then follow the diagram and directions explicitly. Relax, be patient and practice between periods as well - just use enough KY to make insertion comfortable. Good Luck

i've never tried tampons lol. i've heard they feel like a finger is stuck up you. also, i heard it is bad to wear them for a long period of time, like sleeping for example.

    :]

  • read the instructions or ask your mom. its hard to explain but youll get the hang of it. you probably didnt put it in far enough because you were nervous. just relax when you do it. it will NOT get lost inside of you. so dont worry.

Read the package or ask a person like your mom to tell you how to do this correctly.
