Is there any free resources available online for someone looking into solitary wicca?
I am trying to learn about the wiccan faith, and am interested in looking into solitary wicca. It's something that has intrigued me for a long time.
I have been reading occasional articles on witchvox, mostly because I have been hugely busy with my university work. I am wondering if anyone here could recommend other sites that are focused more to the solitary wiccan.
Also, other wiccan's views on the solitary path would be welcome.

Hey Shaun,
Here are a couple of valuable resources for solitaries:
http://bluemoonwicca.org/solitary.html -- This is a set of study by a Blue Star Wiccan group geared towards the solitary practitioner. The best part is that they give you the option to contact them, should you have questions, and they do respond.
http://www.solitary-pagan.net/ -- As you might guess from the name, this website's sole reason for being is to reach out to solitaries. The content is excellent and provides a variety of perspective on most topics.
After witchvox, as everyone else has recommended, I would start with these two.
If I had to give you a little bit of advice, I would say enjoy being a solitary. Realize that just because you are a solitary, that doesn't mean that you have to be alone or that you have nothing to learn. You can go from group to group, teacher to teacher, learning and taking from others what you need. Take as many classes and local seminars as you can, learn from lots of different people, and all along the way, pay attention to how it's shaping you. The important thing is to really try to understand where each group is coming from with their beliefs and practices. You can't really dismiss or accept a belief without understanding it. In time, as you've borrowed beliefs and formulated others in opposition to those ideas that you consider to be crap, you'll have a fairly well-rounded idea of what you think and where to go, rather than having to rely solely upon Scott Cunningham for guidance.
But Cunningham's a great place to start.
Take care,
Laz

I'm solitary - not really Wiccan but have a lot of similar beliefs - kind of a Jack-Wiccan.
For research I would check the Cunningham books - lots of libraries do have them - I really have gotten a lot from them.
Many websites will be giving you the way an individual works - and you will get some saying you can't be a real Wiccan if you are solitary - so when doing research online consider you are getting opinions and individual views and figure what fits with how you want your path and kind of take most with a grain of salt.

Check into The Wiccan/Pagan Times (on line e-zine) and also check some of the Yahoo groups. Look for a Pagan/Wiccan group in your area, that will connect you with with your local pagan community.

There are tons of books and online sources to check into. I love the books written by Scott Cunningham... very informative and not "text book" reading. As far as online goes, try any of the following... just for example:
http://www.beliefnet.com/index.html?rnd=...
http://www.disorderlywitches.net/
http://www.wiccacourse.co.uk/intro.htm...
http://www.wicca-chat.com/index.html...

There are also many Yahoo groups and MSN groups that are wonderful in your studies.
Good luck in your journey.
Blessed Be.
(Actually Atlas, there are several men who study Wicca. It's a very nature-based religion and appeals to both women AND men.)
