I love both equally. They both have advantages and disadvantages.

    Little dogs:

    - Cost less to feed, and involve less cleanup

    - Are easier to travel with (anyone who has had to deal with huge dog crates at shows, etc. will know what I mean)

    - Can be picked up and carried if necessary

    - Don't take up as much space, so I enjoy having them up in bed with me

    - Are easier to physically handle (though this is a double edged sword as people sometimes don't bother to train them because a pulling Pomeranian isn't going to drag you down the street like a pulling Lab would)

    - Live longer in general

    Big dogs:

    - Are better able to protect themselves if attacked by another dog

    - Have less dental problems and and anal gland problems

    - Tend to have less aggression issues (though this has much more to do with the owners of small dogs, than small dogs themselves)

    - Can do useful carting, pulling, etc. (little dogs can cart, but they can't actually carry anything of substantial weight)

    - Their presence acts as a deterrent to robbers

    - Are better running companions

pokey's gumby: I love your answer for many reasons.....

I always had big dogs and would have chose that as my answer, but when my grandfather went into a nursing home, we inherited his dog.... a Shih Tzu... He's annoying as hell but he loves to cuddle.

I have had big dogs who thought they were lap dogs...and that can be annoying, having a 60lb dog try and squeeze into your lap when you're on the floor or something... But the truth is, Pokey's Gumby is right... it depends on the dog. I did a co-op at a pet shop in school and worked with both big and little dogs (grooming) and some of hte smaller dogs were more friendly than the bigger ones at times, but I have family wiht little dogs who are viscious (we renamed King [a jack russel] to KILLER for reasons I'd rather not mention... lol).

I truly feel that it depends on the dog itself...Dogs of all sizes have qualities we love and hate....But the real answer lies in the temperment of the dog and what it does for you emotionally.

Big dogs I have four big dogs blue tick{ Ladybird} And 3 puppies who are B.tick/B.lab. There such big baby's and you can play around with them and don't have to worry to much about then getting hurt.Plus they do not seem to bark as much as little dogs.I also have a little dog {Dixie} she is terrier and whippet and she is very cute and sweet and she loves every body. She looks like a cute little girl. But I am a Big dog fan!!!!I love all dogs,But big dogs work as policeman, and do search and rescue,Assist people who are disabled let your little kids ride on them and they don't seem to care and they can protect when needed.

Big dogs rule! They are better-mannered, less aggressive and generally easier to train. They are not as insecure and don't feel as threatened by other dogs or people. They don't escape through little holes in the fence and they don't trip you when you're carrying hot food to the table. They are a deterrent to would-be thieves or muggers and they make great roommates.

A tough choice but probabally Big dogs.

Big dogs- Have to be walked more (I don't know if this is good or bad.

Small dogs- Are normally very noisy and need a lot of attention.

I have a labrodor and a Toy Poodle.

I like bigger dogs better because, well, they can usually do alot more things. For instance a labrador retreiver( full size) can dance with you! And they can run really fast! A chuwawa( not spelled right) can run fast but not as fast. And bigger dogs usually win a dog show. And you don't ever see a crime fighting chuwaw do you? More big dogs can do more stuff and are alot of fun!!

Well I used to like big dogs. I didnt think little dogs were worth much and they were yappy and annoying. But we were given a Lhasa Apso named Harry and he is our pride and joy and we love him to death. So I would say...it depends on the dog.

I like little dogs better because you can cuddle with them. When you feel lonely, or sad, they are always there for you to hug them. Also, they fit everywhere! They don't bark as loud, the don't poop that big, and they are sometimes much cuter!

I like both for different reasons, I am able to take my bigger dog a Austrian Shepard, horse back riding with me, she loves the trails. My smaller dogs are my house companions, and are to small to survive the hazards of a trail ride.
