I just gave someone a thumbs down by mistake. How can i undo it?

I meant to click on thumbs up! It was a good answer!

You cannot change the rating you have given someone.

I have had the same thing happen to me. Even worse, I have given a thumbs up to a good answer, and the poster came back and changed it to a very bad answer.

    The ratings remain the same.

I have done that plenty of times as well. I feel so bad, but there's nothing you can do about it, the damage is done. I think Y!A should allow us to change our thumbs up/down vote, because:

    a) sometimes people accidentally click the wrong one

    b) sometimes people edit their answers, and the answer maybe have previous been bad, but after they changed it, it was good, etc.

Sorry, but one of the problems with computers is we cannot tell them, "oooops!" all the time. Some functions have "are you sure" backups, but clearly it would slow the program down too much to do that everywhere.

So the moral to the story is be careful when you click, and don't take a single up or down too seriously, because it might indeed have been an error; or bad temper, or whatever.

once the thumb is going down, it continues to be down. even if that is bothering you that a lot you may consistently clarify in you're question that you by danger gave a thumbs down (in case you requested the question that is), or you may consistently e mail the fellow you gave a thumbs right down to (in the experience that they enable it) and say sorry. i imagine both are slightly a procedures fetched because mistakes ensue, yet when it is frightening you sufficient to ask this question then it can make you sense slightly extra efficient.

Unfortunately, its permanent. But if you feel really badly about it you can write the person and apologize by clicking on the name and emailing them.

I have done that before and felt bad about it too. There is no way to change it.
