school kids and head lice?

I know kids get it from other kids, clothes and hats, borrowing hair brushes etc...But where do head lice come from, initially.....I mean they just get it in school, so Where, does is come from...."they" say it is not from "dirty" kids, my children were clean as a pin, and would get it, and even Princess Diana's kids got it once....so where, does it come from originally?(is it from someone who has cats, or dogs, or pet birds, brought in on the shoes....where?)

Update:

I don't have it, and my kids are grown, I was just wondering '''where"' it comes from initially, I have grandchildren and the idea of putting pesticides on them is horrible, cause I had to do it with my kids, and now they are saying that it is so dangerous, I was wonder where, to maybe help my kids not go through what I did.

It's just like any other bug. They are everywhere. Summer and spring is when they are most prevailant. Dogs and cats DO NOT get lice. I've heard birds do but I don't think it's the same.

What happens is a child or an adult too get them. When the school has them if the DON'T clean the whole school and shampoo all carpets [which they don't usually] they will keep coming back and back again.

We had it once too. Well, a couple times. We used olive oil. I know you don't have it but that's what we used. We lived in a tiny house and could not get rid of it. I finally boiled all the clothes and all the sheets and stuff. It was bad.

I don't know where they orginate from but just like all bugs they are plentyful.

not sure where it comes from but a person with clean hair is more likely to get it than dirty hair. Lice love clean hair as they can cling to it better. They have been around for thousands of years . Parents doen't tend to treat it properly or don't do the treatment again 7 days later so it keeps coming back

Not real sure where it comes from! Sorry. But I do know that if you use a shampoo and conditioner that has tea tree oil in it, it helps in the prevention of getting it!! The brand that I use on my daughter and son and myself is Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Care - Tea Tree Special Shampoo and Conitioner. I got it at the hair salon I go to. Hopefully, that helps!

PS the shampoo and conditioner smell pepperminty!

Lice have been around since the dawn of man. Ancient Egyptians shaved their heads and wore wigs to keep from getting lice in their hair.

They jump from one host to another. So your kids got it from some other kids.

Thankfully we have stuff like Kwell available to get rid of lice

Not sure where it comes from, but since i enjoy health class, Ive learned that Lice actually prefer Clean hair over dirty hair. So its not uncommon for your kids to have gotten it if they were clean. :)

Lice like clean hair. Don't wash hair everyday (hair should not be washed that much anyway)
