Why does everyone want a BCS playoff???????

It should be obvious that we're just going to end up arguing about the seeding, or who got the 6th or 8th seed and who should have gotten in but didn't, etc., etc. No matter what happens, the NCAA is not going to be able to please everyone, and people in Boise would be arguing that they should have been playing outright for the Championship instead of being cheated by the refs in the first round fo the playoffs or something like that. Let's face it, there are too many teams in the country to make this a perfect system. Let's also not forget that these kids have school to contend with as well, so playing 16+ games is not the best option.

Update:

Hey, look4tay, if you actually knew anything about football, you'd know that the BCS computer had nothing to do with the rankings back in August. The Top 25 is only polls until week 8 or so, then the computer uses those polls to help determine it's rankings. Pay attention or don't answer.

You are exactly right. If we have 10 teams in a playoff system, then the number #11 and #12 ranked teams would complain. What if the #12 ranked team beat the #7 ranked team during the regular season? #7 goes to the playoffs, but #12 does not.....creating controversy.

I agree, and I'm also tired of people blaming the computers. As you mention, the BCS does not come out until about week 8, and even when it does, the majority of it consists of human voting.

why is that every other pro sport and college sport has a playoffs. but why can't they for football? and don't tell me that line because there are to many teams. all those schools that have a basketball also have a foot ball team they can do it for march madness. so why not football? the playoff system will help the poorer schools have a shot a national title game. take Boise the only reason they don't get a chance at the title is because they are a poorer school that's it. they want the big schools in the championship game. the playoff will make sure that a smaller school would have at least a fighting chance. if the they would have used the same system back when west Texas state won the basketball title would they have been in the championship game? plus most watch march madness for the Cinderella teams. so in all honesty a playoff system would make more money in the long run.

The chief reasons people want to see a BCS playoffs are:

    1) More good games (almost all the playoff games would offer intriguing matchups)

    2) Allows undefeated cinderellas who don't have the AP Poll mojo to crack the top 2 spots still have a chance to play for the championship if they can beat the teams ahead of them

    3) In using the BCS formula to choose 8 playoff teams instead of what is essentially 2 playoff teams, it allows the national champions to be picked in a more, if not completely, head-to-head manner.

    4) The "interferes with school" argument would be somewhat moot if the playoff games took place in the second half of December, no regular season college football is played and when most students aren't in class. Also, it's not like the graduation rates of high-level college football programs are anything to write home about in the first place. Most college players consider themselves as football students, studying for careers in football. This is not necessarily wise, of course, but it's still the prevailing attitude.

At least then it would come down to the hottest team out. The damn bowl games aren't played for 4 or 5 weeks after the season has ended. How is that putting the best 2 teams up against each other. 5 weeks off now play. The BCS has got to go. Before, the worst that would happen was a split championship. The BCS was created to eliminate that, yet a couple years ago USC won the national title but LSU has the crystal football for that season. That right they split. So what happened to this perfect system?

Because a playoff is the only true way to decide who has the better team. Let it be decided on the football field, not by biased pollsters. Is there any other sport college or pro that has a system like this to figure out who should play who? The answer is no. The BCS is a joke. It's better than the previous systems I give it that, but it's still very inadequate. Playoffs should be like the NCAA Basketball system. That would work best.

The BCS is the dumbest system in sports today. How can a team be ranked number 1 before the season even starts. The best to the worst teams should be decided on the field, not by some computer. That's why I don't watch college football anymore. Where is the competitiveness when teams are finishing 12-0. Why watch if you already know the higher ranked team is going to win. I only watch the major bowl games now, and I might not watch them. Without a playoff system, it's pointless to watch. Ohio State has been ranked number one from day one. If they win the national championship, then you would have wasted your time watching college football this year because the computer told you back in August they were gonna win anyway.

I'm down with like an 8 team playoff or something...reason people want it is because they think there team didn't get a fair shot a big bsc bowl game or even the championship. And don't start talking about schooling knowing good and well that would not matter...half of them don't even care about school. And also Div-1 AA has a playoff system.

    Yea

    that is very true

I think I'm the only one that likes the College Football system

it is different, it demands perfection trough out the whole year, and if your aren't perfect who else to blame but yourself

(like look at the NFL the titans beat the colts yesterday, no one cares, it means nothing)

I don't really want college football to be like the NFL

But the BCS definetly can to improve though

Source(s): Us Ohio State fans have never had to cry about anything since the BCS started OSU has handled thier bussiness most of these teams that have to Politic thier way in end up loosing anyway plus there are what 114 teams in College football, being fair is probably impossible

There should be December Madness for football just as there is March Madness in NCAA hoops. Top 64 get in and are paired up in a bracket. Winner take all.
