World Issues Project?
I have to pick a country (not in North America or Western Europe) and study an issue currently affecting that country. Examples include the India water shortage and the effect of global warming on Maldives. Now I need an idea. What's a good interesting topic? Anywhere in Asia and South Asia would be most interesting.

even though it will probably the most common topic chosen would probably be the darfur conflict...
other ideas would be:
the Buraku (main minority) in Japan
the effect of the government of North Korea on its citizens (basically no freedom, prison mortality rate, etc)
