I would love to have an real tree in my house, unfortunately we have to have an artificial tree. If we have a real Christmas tree my dog thinks that he has to mark his territory. The first year we had him he must have peed on this thing several times before I caught what he was doing. He's completely house broken too! Just having an outdoor item in the house puts him over the edge. Needless to say that I had to rewrap about 20 or so presents, and throw several books away I had bought as gifts. So we now have an artificial tree. It still looks beautiful you can't even tell its artificial. I Miss the real Christmas tree smell, and going to pick the tree out with my family.

I will have a real tree my sister has a house in the mountains and always cuts down a few extras one for me. My kids don't care for the type of tree it is they like Douglas firs. I feel it is a tree and I know it has been freshly cut down, so there is little worry about freshness.

    we use fake ones now.

i own alot of land and used to cut off the top of a tree so as not cut the whole thing down and kill it so it grows new branches.

but since i put in a wood stove for when the ice storms cut the powerlines for days at a time its not a good idea to have a real tree because it would dry out. and for those who say but you cut down trees for firewood. i dont cut them down i cut up the ones the wind and ice knocked down and branches that have fallen off. there is plenty of scrap wood on the ground to use for many years. but for the smell of pine ill break a few branches off a tree and make a wreath out of it and it gives the house the smell and makes good kindlin after its all dried out. the spray pine stuff stinks. and if you have a wood stove you can sprinkle cinnamone on top of it and itll make the whole house smell like someone is baking. i also put a number10 can of water on it and add some pine needles for pine smell. as they say where theres a will theres a way.

I hate the idea of cutting trees even for a ritual... so I guess if I have a tree it will be an artificial...

Fake. It's about 10 years, and the top doesn't fit right, so it leans over just like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree. It's truly pathetic--I love the little bugger.

Definitely a real one. It's just not the same when the tree is fake. Especially since a fake one doesn't smell as good.

I have a small fake tree already up on the buffet table. It's cute, it's only 2.5' tall, and we decorated it already.

Gotta love 1 hour of going out to the garage, picking up the tree, plugging it in, and hanging a few ornaments.

Fake, the real ones start dying long before Christmas.
