Do you think I would like quinoa?
Before I spend money on buying it, I'd just like some idea of what it's closest to in taste. I love all rice except brown rice. Barley is OK only in soup and only sometimes. Just curious as to what it tastes closest to.
3 AnswersOther - Food & Drink8 years agoMini muffin recipe with white cake mix?
I saw a recipe online for lemon mini muffins made with box white cake mix a few days ago, and now I can't seem to find it back. Can anyone find something similar? I'm tired of googling, thanks all!
6 AnswersCooking & Recipes8 years agoDoes anyone know the name of these cookies?
So I can look up a recipe? My husband's mother used to make them. He calls them 'cold drop oatmeal cookies'. They're more of a no-bake cookie. It's melted chocolate with oatmeal stirred in(possibly the chocolate was brought up to a certain temp). Then you drop spoonfuls on a sheet pan and refrigerate.
Any help? I'm not a baker/cookie person by any means. Thanks.
5 AnswersCooking & Recipes8 years agoBrioche/French toast question?
I was gifted with a bag of brioche mix for the breadmaker so I made it tonight on a whim. I don't know what to do with this nice eggy-buttery bread now. I guess it could be used for French toast. Only every single recipe I've ever seen is for sweet French toast with sugar and berries and such. My husband says French toast is not sweet at all. (boggles)
OK, so who's right, and how can I use this brioche? Dream up some ideas so it doesn't go to waste. :)
5 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years agoBiopsy under the tongue?
Has anyone ever had this done or known anyone who's had it done? They're doing a biopsy of a lump/open lesion under the tongue tomorrow. I was just wondering how much pain is involved, what you can or can't eat, whether they've had to take a day off work due to it, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.
2 AnswersOther - Health9 years agoWhat's wrong with our fridge?
This is a pretty new (2006?) Amana top fridge/bottom pull-out freezer, no water dispenser. Last night the door was acting a little odd, like I was having to pull really hard to get it open, like it was suctioned shut. This morning and now, things are pretty warm in there, about 60F. The bottom freezer is working just fine.
Anyone have any idea what this could be? Maybe around how much it would cost to get fixed? Is it anything we could fix ourselves? Thanks for anyone who can answer.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoWhat else should I add to the grocery list?
I have $46 left in my budget for the grocery store to last until the end of the month, which is only 9 days away. It's just my husband and myself, and the food budget doesn't include chips, ice cream, frozen dinners, soda, junk like that. Feel free to toss out some other ingredients to my list, it might trigger my imagination!
I have down: Picante/salsa, loaf of sourdough, rices.
3 AnswersOther - Food & Drink9 years agoWhat's everyone eating today?
The AFC and NFC football games are on this afternoon to see who's going to the Superbowl. We're making sloppy joe sliders and biscuit empanadas, and pretzels with chive cream cheese dip. What's your snack food for the day?

8 AnswersOther - Food & Drink9 years agoWhat foods would you like for bedrest?
Unfortunately I have to be on bedrest for two days this week, so I'm going shopping after work tomorrow and then that's it for food until Friday night after work. Don't worry, it definitely doesn't have to be healthy at all. I love cheese, need (seriously) fatty foods, and don't care for sweets at all. We can't afford delivery or takeout.
But if you had to just lay there on a couch/bed for two days with someone else making food for you, what are some good ideas? My husband will be cooking for me, I already have one of my favorite breakfast hashbrown casseroles on the list.
Throw any ideas out there, he's a good cook and I'll be in pain and hungry!
4 AnswersOther - Food & Drink10 years agoIf you consider yourself a good cook...?
Come on, we all have those semi-homemade recipes we throw together either because of time or money. For instance, making a Mexican rice packet and tossing in half a can of black beans. Or using a box of dirty rice mix for the filling for enchiladas.
We all have our shortcuts, what are yours to still make it taste great but with that little not-from-scratch helper?
11 AnswersCooking & Recipes10 years agoHas anyone ever eaten at Round Table Pizza?
I'm just wondering if the pizza is actually worth the price! It seems pretty expensive compared to Dominos or Pizza Hut, is it really that good?
2 AnswersOther - Dining Out10 years agoWhat are some tips to save money around the house?
I realized today that our water usage is 33% lower than last year at this time. I saved 57% today on groceries with my club card, personalized savings, sales, and coupons. We changed cell phone plans to save $30 a month. Things like that.
What do YOU do to save money on household bills?
5 AnswersOther - Home & Garden10 years agoUS Presidents and smoking?
Help us settle a little debate. President Obama was elected to office while he was still a cigarette smoker. Who was the last sitting President before him that smoked cigarettes in office?
(Not cigars like Kennedy, just cigarettes.)
3 AnswersTrivia1 decade agoBread flour vs. cake flour in cookies?
I was going to make chocolate chip cookies today, but realized I'm out of AP flour. I have bread flour that I've been using to make tortillas and they turn out fine. But I also have cake flour. I'm not much of a baker, so which one do you all think would make the cookies turn out the best? Bread flour or cake flour? What will be the big differences?

I just got an extra third job there. I'm wondering what to expect tomorrow for training.
2 AnswersOther - Dining Out1 decade agoHow can I fix Christmas?
I found out today that my step-son threw out our little Christmas tree months ago which had sentimental value to me. He's not around anymore, we can't afford buying anything, the tree was all we were going to do. What are some creative ways to make a faux tree to make it resemble Christmas around here?
1 AnswerChristmas1 decade agoIf a mini-fridge got rained on?
We put a mini-fridge outside to defrost, and then it got really got rained on. The coils, everything. If it dries out, will it still work again?
(I was wanting to sell it, and need to know if it's salvageable or is it junk now?)
4 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoWhat was the last thing you cooked from scratch?
Or mostly from scratch? I've made a leftover spaghetti casserole and a batch of homemade tortillas today.
17 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoDoes anyone know how the VA hospitals work?
My husband is an Army veteran who was wounded back in the early 80's. He's been having health issues, but our co-pay is too high to see our regular doctor. Does the VA hospital charge anything? Does it take forever to get in to see them? He served for our country and was shot, how difficult is it to get a doc at the VA hospital?
Thanks to anyone who may know.
2 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoServers, what was the strangest request?
What was the strangest request you ever got while waitering/waitressing from a customer? I once had a couple of women ask for patty melts with no patty which did not make the Chef happy. I had a table want their ham medium-rare. So what odd requests have you gotten?
