With people who overeat significantly, I'd tend toward the living to eat side, but for people who allow themselves to get hungry, I'd say that they eat to live. Just because you're eating to live doesn't mean you can't enjoy the eating process though.

As long as people have the ability to starve i will say that our basic need is the 'eat to live' and anymore is 'live to eat'.
Kind of like Oprah and the eating addiction.
