choke q- jet?
I have an 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix LE with a 4 barrel Q-jet carb. I have been having lots of trouble starting my car since it has been cold out. The only way to get her started is to open the choke by hand and someone start the car. Need help please.

Have you done a tune up on your car lately? Check your air filter and change it if the element is dirty or clogged. The Qjet is a great carb and the cold should not be affecting it unless the choke is misadjusted. Try doing a tune up with new plugs, spark plug wires, and filters first.

Remove the choke flap and drill (2) 1/4 inch holes in the flap. Drill the holes on the front side of the flap both sides

ARE YOU SURE YOU ARE OPENING THE CHOKE TO START IT? SHOULD HAVE TO CLOSE THE CHOKE IN COLD WEATHER. IF YOU WANT TO YOU CAN ADJUST THE CHOKE . IT IS A SMALL ROUND BLACK THING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE LOOSEN THE THREE SCREWS THAT HOLD IT IN PLACE AND WITH ENGINE COLD AND AIR CLEANER OFF TURN IT SO THE CHOKE PLATE CLOSES JUST SLIGHTLY. RE TIGHTEN ALL AND IT SHOULD WORK FINE
