Rear Window Defroster not working?

I drive a 1996 Honda Accord Ex. The rear window defroster is not working anymore. I checked the owner manual and was instructed to press the button near the temperature gadge because my outside rear window was frosty and wet.I turned the engine on and waited for 20 minutes for the window to become clear and it didn't so I had to get paper towels to wipe the outside rear window to see clearly. I also had my heater on at the same time and in the inside of my car became warmer.

Unless you haven't checked the fuses, do so. When you push the button, you should hear a clicking sound, if not then you can suspect the relay has gone bad. Look at your owners manual and it should tell you which relay the defroster uses. Have a mate push the button while you listen to the relay. If you don't hear it click, then its probably bad. At the back glass you want to check to see if you are getting power to the terminals. Put a meter in the DC voltage mode at about 25 volt setting, put your (+) lead to one of the ternimals, and the other to a good ground, and have a mate push the switch. You should see a voltage come on the terminal of at least 12 volts with the engine off and the ignition switch on. Establish that you have voltage to the lead terminal. Once you get the voltage, it should work, if not then you need to remove the wires from the terminals with the ignition switch off. Be careful as these terminals will break pretty easy. Once you have them off, set the meter to the Ohms scale, and probe one terminal with one lead and the other terminal with the other lead. You should get a good reading across the two terminals, if not then you have a break in the little wires (lines) in the glass. Follow the lines until you find the break. Purchase (at a parts store) a kit to repair the rear defogger. Follow the instructions to the letter, and you will make the repair without any problems. It is easier to repair the one that is there than it is to replace it with a new one. Either way, this should resolve your problem.

glad I could help you, Good Luck!!!

i know what you're conversing approximately and that i know there's a fashion it relatively is extra value-effective and gets around this subject. in the beginning the window is in basic terms too sparkling. Get a paper towel a million sheet and a few liquid dishsoap like photograph voltaic. Now squeeze a honest volume onto the towel and wipe the back window. Use in straightforward terms the a million towel sq. no be counted how soaked it gets with dish cleansing soap. you at the instant are not attempting to bathe the window one hundred% - you opt for to bypass away in the back of a skinny layer of cleansing soap on the exterior of the glass. Which kinda makes the window look kinda smeary once you're up close yet once you're sitting interior the drivers seat that's no longer often considerable. this would possibly not fog up. you may tell what's in the back of you. Rear window defrosters sparkling the interior the glass first. in case you acquire frost on the exterior-you acquire to bodily scrape that off.- comparable is going for snow certainly lasts all wintry climate.
