What is the deal with Import Exhaust systems?

WHY do people think it's COOL to install a coffee can sized exhaust tip that makes their car sound like a hopped up lawnmower with a bad case of the farts???

Well.....you do install aftermarket exhausts on cars to .....i dunno maybe increase the performance of the car. They sound like "hopped" up little lawnmowers because they have smaller displacement engines. Little 4 cylinders that have close to 10:1 compression, well at least the serious guys that really are into performance, and well those guys in the broken down civic with Nike stickers...im trying to figure that one out my self. and to BigBlockChallenger, I know cutting springs is just asking for disaster I do SCCA SOLO 1, and i know suspension is important. That trend of cutting down the springs has died, i dont know anyone that has done that. Now you see everyone rolling on 36 way adjustables Coilover kits with 32 diffrent dampening settings and Camber Plates.

No jap cars are not easier to work on. You would think considering how unreliable they are that they would make them easier to work on. It takes a lot of money and work for a turbo car to compete with a V8.If you want a high tech car with a turbo. Look at the Buick T-types and Grand Nationals.

    Haters.

Hey, guy below me... What does the number of cylinders have to do with the compression ratio? I've got 10.4:1 on my V8, too.
