When combining columns of text in Excel, how do I skip blank cells?
I'm having trouble with excel. I have 4 columns each containing a persons name and in a new column I want to combine those cells in to a list where a comma follows each name, ie cell A1=Joe, B1=Mike, C1=Bill, D1=Tom, so I want E1 to read "Joe, Mike, Bill, Tom". I know how to do that, my problem occurs when the cell in column A is blank so I end up with ", Mike, Bill, Tom". Is there a way to skip blank cells so it would read "Mike, Bill, Tom" instead?

You can use the IF condition to check if the cols are populated and if they are, then use that col value along with a comma, else just put a blank. For example - assuming that your values are in A1, B1, C1, and D1, here's the formula you need:
=IF(A1>0, A1&", ","") & IF(B1>0,B1 & ", ","") & IF(C1>0,C1 & ", ","") & IF(D1>0, D2, "")

in case you take advantage of the SUM function, you'll continually might want to outline the decision. in case you take advantage of SUBTOTAL particularly "=SUBTOTAL(9,B2:BXX)", you'll in common words sum up what you tutor on the reveal screen. in case you do an autofilter by column A to tutor in common words the easy values in A whose column B files you want to SUBTOTAL, the in common words values in B which will upload up will be those belonging to an identical fee in Column A. no opt to style. even with the undeniable fact that, you need to apply the Subtotals function. First opt for column A&B on the suitable, bypass to files --> style, opt for Ascending by Column A. Then bypass to files --> Subtotals, then opt for "At each and each and every replace in (Column A's call)", "Use function Sum", and "upload subtotal to (Column B's call). you'll finally end up with Pumpkin entire seventy 8 Orange entire ninety 4
