Why am I finding mysterious .bmp files in between my .jpg downloaded pictures?

I downloaded some kodak moments that my daughter sent me as an e-mail attactment. After I downloaded them, I was scrolling through other photos I'd received and discovered .bmp files in between the photos. They looked like icons of things like walmart.bmp, starbucks.bmp, m&m.bmp and X-men.bmp... what's with that? After I deleted them... they appeared again the next day. I'm am using the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer if that matters....

It sounds to me like "adware." So, do a thorough scan of your system for viruses, spyware, etc. Then, as long as you use "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" use the program to convert them to Japegs to see what hapens.

If they keep coming back, either delete them and/or try the following:

HOW TO DO A THOROUGH CLEAN UP (Windows XP)

While you are connected to the Internet do the following:

    1. Click on tools ... Internet options. There you will see three buttons next to each other... "Delete Cookies" ... "Delete Files" and "Settings." Also, below the settings button you will see another one "Clear history."

    2. Click on "settings" - go to "Edit" - Click on "select all" - Go to files, click delete and wait till all Internet trash files are gone.

    3. Go back and click on "delete cookies" and wait till all cookies are gone

    4. Go back and click on "Delete files," put a check mark on the little white square shown on the small window that will open, click OK and wait for a little.

    5. Go back and click on "Clear history", click “yes” and you are done.

    6. Now do a check disk and a defrag, then restart your computer and see if the problem is resolved.

    7. If the problem persists, get on the internet and look in the Yahoo search for the Tune-Up Utilities 2006 site; go to that site and download their free trial program, familiarize your self with it and use it to clean up your registry automatically. It is an excellent little program and does wonders with PC maintenance tasks along many other helpful and useful chores.

Karen, only positioned the photo in paint and keep as and modify the extension to jpg, gif or perhaps with you want it. a effective tactic to get issues from on the cyber web (that are yours), yet you want is to youse the Print reveal screen button and replica that into paint as well. better of luck.
