What body governs Fair Trade Products?
Just curious, I know tons of other food/product labels have loopholes.
I bought some soap at Trader Joe's, and while I will continue to purchase it as it is animal product and testing free... But, I've often wondered the same about the stickers on coffee and chocolate. Who certifies Fair Trade?
Hoping fellow veggies/vegans can help me out on this one!

The Fair Trade Labelling Organization www.fairtrade.net , located in Germay, is the organization that certifies Fair Trade products coming from over 50 countries in the Global South. There are over 20 organizations in similar number of countries around the world that are form this certifying body and promote Fair Trade certified products in their countries (in the U.S. the Fair Trade organization is called TransFair USA and is located in Oakland, in the UK is called the Fair Trade Federation).
Besides Fair Trade certified products (that are mostly agricultural products), there are other called Fair Trade products that you can find in stores. Although these products are not certified by a third-party certifier, several of those products follow similar standards to those followed by Fair Trade certified products.
The coffee and chocolate that you find at Trader Joe's is probably Fair Trade certified (you need to look for a label that says so).

I dont' think there is one... it's mainly marketing that advertises when an item is Fair Trade. It's a bigger deal in the UK than in the USA, for now, anyway.
