91 Maxima SE Engine Replacement?

Only do it if you have the donor car. Because the VG30DE engine has variable cam timing sprockets and extra wiring from the engine control module to the engine you will want the engine wiring and the ECM both and plenty of time to interface the controls and options so all will work. And you have seen both cars run... Most of the VG30DE cars had limited slip differentials and you will also want the transmission too...

you could do it. probably be a pain in the a$$ the vg30e is sohc and the vg30de is a dohc engine. the vg30de is friggin huge!!!! also not many people realize that the vg30e can make as much or more power as the vg30de. i would say stick with the sohc and put the money and time into some upgrades possibly even turbo. after i finish building my 86 300ZX i'm gonna build a 88 maxima wagon turbocharged and bottle fed, just for screwing with honda owners.

I do believe the VG30DE, will work in place of the VG30E, as long as you use your engine mounts from the old engine so everything matches up nicely. You may have to exchange other parts too, so don't toss the old engine untill you are certain you have everything you need for the replacement.

There's an old phrase, " You can fit anything into anything". The first question to be answered is "value of your car". You can check this on the Internet. Try blue book. If your unsure, call you bank, ask for auto loans, then ask the person you talk to, and have them tell you the value. I know that you love this car, I don't think its worth the cost for this age car. Unless you have the money to pay for the change. Have you tried to find a rebuilt engine, there's less risk

yeah you do have to change out alot of stuff and honestly its not even worth it to do so. you will end up spending far more to do it that your car is worth.
