  • Looking for parts for my computer.?

I am looking for additional SATA power rails for my Raidmax RX-630SS power supply. Only problem is I haven't been able to find any. Any ideas other than Ebay...(i already looked there)

I am not looking for a Molex to SATA connector...those are a dime a dozen. I am looking to find an additional one to go with my power supply. Dont want all those ugly wires in there if i don't have to...so please do not suggest it.

I am very savvy when it comes to computers...I built it myself, just want more SATA connectors that are compatible with my Semi modular power supply because it only came with 4 and i need more due to case/disk requirements. I asked this question before and was suggested that i take my computer to the store i bought it from...*sigh*...i can't take it to Newegg...and Newegg doesn't sell the part without the power supply.

  • Why have people forgotten about Kernel?

I am of course referring to the Kernel Memory as it applies to 32bit Operating systems and their inability to Show 4GB of System Memory.

I am not understanding why there are so many mixed reports of what a 32Bit operating system can support. Some say 3.2GB, some say 3.5GB...and then they further suggest that people shouldn't install more than 3.5GB of memory....

When is the last time you were building a system and you actually installed 3.5GB of memory (3x1gb and 1x512mb or 1x2gb, 1x1gb and 1x512mb)?

  • Need a quick question answered...Intel Experts do your thing...?

I am fairly knowledgeable about computers...so please...no silly answers.

I just need to know if Intel Processors (especially in the Penryn line) have an onboard memory controller like the new AMD processors now do. If so would it limit the amount of memory that could be installed? Or is that still controlled by the motherboard as it always has been. The reason I am asking is I am looking to drop this SLOW T2310 Pentium Dual Core (533mhz FSB 1MB L2) out of my laptop and upgrade to something like a T7500 Core2 Duo (800Mhz FSB 4MB L2) and I want to know if i will pick up a little better RAM capacity or will i be still stuck at 2GB.

Oh yeah...and before you say it can't be done....or I need to make sure that my motherboard will support the 800Mhz FSB...I have already checked it and my Motherboard will support 533/667/800 Mhz FSB....and already has support for Penryn processors....

  • DirectX 9.0c/10 Video Memory Reporting Errors...?

Ok...here's the Thing...I am not Technologically Impaired...so please...if you are going to waste my time Don't Bother.

    My Rig....

AMD Phenom II 940 3.0 Stock / Overclocked to 3.6Ghz

    8GB DDR2 1066 RAM

    GA-MA790GP-DS4H Motherboard BIOS Rev F3

Dual Sapphire Radeon HD 4670 1GB In CrossfireX (8x/8x mode)

    Windows XP x64/Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit

With my 2 Operating systems I have 2 Different issues...Both Dealing with DirectX (Sigh)

In Windows XP x64 I have a Modded 9.0c to allow DirectX 10 Support. That is working just fine. When I go into the Display properties is where i have a problem. For Some reason the section for "Approx. Total Memory" for the Display is only reading 1GB (1024.0MB) Which would be accurate if Crossfire was not Enabled. I have the March 2009 Version of 9.0c, and the Latest Drivers from AMD/ATI (4-7-2009 release)...I downloaded both this morning. Still incorrect readings. This is causing a problem in GTA IV (not that it is unplayable..i just can't max out the view distance) as it shows that i have 1GB of Video ram when i know Darn Well that I have 2GB.

I am sure there is a file i can edit somewhere in the DirectX files that will allow me to set another maximum for DirectX 9.0c..which i am thinking is the problem. Has anyone found it?

After i tried that...i decided to see what Windows 7 would report. Figuring i would see 2048MB of Video ram because of the Newer Version of DirectX which should support more. I was right...but it was still wrong. Instead of showing that I have 2GB of Video Ram it shows 3.5GB... I have no Shared Memory as i have the Onboard Video Disabled in BIOS. I want to know where this come from...1.5 GB is just coming out of nowhere....Anybody know why?!

  • Here is a tough computer question...?

Why is it that when people ask a question about their computer, they seem to fail in supplying the appropriate information about their computer?

It is not like it is too much to ask to say..."The Model number of my computer is..." or "I am having trouble with my Brand & Model...it is not doing THIS"

"Help me fix my computer?" Doesn't help...cause we have not a clue what your computer is.

Is it too much to ask for people to supply enough information for us to help them?

  • 1991 Nissan Maxima Flexplate keeps on breaking!!!?

Recently I have Replaced the Engine (VG30E) with a younger engine of the same type (~25000mi from 150,000) after the old engine lost all compression in 3-4-5-6 cylinders.

After replacing the engine everything worked great, until the Flexplate broke. It was broken in a Circle about 1/4 inch from the center bolts. At this time I assumed that during shipment of the engine the flexplate had been bent or cracked. So I replaced with the flexplate off of the original engine. (I checked to ensure that it was indeed flat and had no serious signs of wear. After replacement I had some problems with the solenoid on the starter, so i replaced the starter. The car ran great, Until today.

My flexplate has broken once again. I havent gotten all the way in there yet, but i am assuming that the same problem has presented itself again. My question is this. Would an off balance torque converter cause this problem? Or is the problem likely to reside in the Crankshaft?

  • 91 Maxima SE Engine Replacement?

I have a 91 Maxima with the VG30E engine in it, i was wondering if it is possible to put the VG30DE in to replace it without too much of a hassle. The VG30DE came in 92-94 Maxima SE. I have an automatic transmission. Would i need to change out a bunch of things or would it be minor replacements like the crossmember and motor mounts?
