Large breasts and breastfeeding?
Are there any women out there who have large breasts and have breastfed or are breastfeeding successfully? I have size H breasts and breastfeeding has been a painful struggle with my 4 week old son.
Any tips?

i was also an H while nursing. my best advice is to try lots of different positions. look on the la leche league website if you need ideas. use lots of pillows or a boppy to prop the baby into a good position. i nursed for nine months, and i am happy that i stuck it out, but i could only nurse easily in one position. and i basically couldn't get by without my boppy. i also used a nursing bra in the beginning. it helps with support. eventually, i didn't need it anymore.
can you see a lactation consultant? a lot of people don't know this, but most insurances will cover it, if you get a referral or prescription from either your ob/gyn or your pediatrician. it is not too late to get some help. she might be able to make it a lot easier on you.
good luck.

I hear you!! I had these giant frisbee sized pads in the begining to absorb the leaking!!
It is hard at first because your breasts are even larger because it is producing a lot of milk. Once your body figures out how much to make for your son, it will settle down.
My boppy made it so much easier! I also nursed my son in a sling and that helped too. Both of those items allowed me to hold him and my breast!
You can do it!! Just keep experimenting & as others have suggested, go to a La Leche League meeting or call a lactation consultant...they have seen a lot and will be able to help you.
Good luck & congrats!

My boobs were size E when i had my son and it was so hard that i eventually stopped. I tried to pump but my breast woudnt fit into the pump bc they were too large. Then the lactation lady had me pump by hand and it took about an hour for 2 ounces! But they now have these little attachment type things you can put over your breast that are rubbery and i guess kinda like a bottle that I have heard help. My friend had large breast and an inverted nipple and she kept breastfeeding with this thing. I wish I could remember what its called, but i am sure you can search for it and find it. I wish I would have known about it.

Not personally, but the larger chested moms I have known said that either the football hold or side lying seem to be the best positions for them to nurse in.

well am 39 now but when i had given birth to my son,i was in yr position as i also got big, though not that much.
well best solution is not to keep them free as big ones often swing in the air so the milk desn't get proposion when the child feeds them.
i use to lay on bed with child on top of me and while feeding i use to hold the feeding breast so that they in proposional shape.

stop before the mastitis sets in.... just go to the formula... you gave it the old college try... now just let them dry up and use them for pillows for feeding junior...
