What will happen if a girl takes creatine?
I work out a lot, but I'm only average at weight lifting--I do it, but I mostly do cardio. My dad left behind a container of creatine when he moved, and I was just curious......
bmh423, you'll definitely see results if you keep going consistently! I don't think the protein will singlehandedly make that much of a difference, but it will help...I just mean, don't worry too much if you forget it. I'm sure you'll see more noticeable results in no time.

The same thing that happens to guys. If it's only one container depending on the size you may need to buy more if you really want to try it out. There is little evidence behind creatine increasing muscle mass, or strength, it mainly benefits recovery time and may slightly decrease soreness the next day. Most research says the benefit behind creatine is only around a 7% boost, which is marginaly when doing mostly cardio. If you're primarily doing cardio, there is no point in taking it because you'll more than likely end up cramping up a lot more. If you start taking creatine, most of your weight gain will not be muscle, it will be water, because since creatine requires water to follow it to maintain pH throughout the body, it makes your need more water, otherwise you start cramping when sweating water out. Your body naturally produces creatine for muscle contraction, and creatine supplementation improves it, but as I said before, it is only marginal improvement, and there has been some research to say it actually causes a decrease in your natural production of creatine, so when you cycle off, as you are supposed to do periodically, you will feel much more weak and not recover from workouts as quickly.
Excessive creatine from creatine supplementation also puts a larger load on your kidney filtration, which in the long term can lead to kidney problems, but there haven't been any longitudinal studies to back this up since creatine supplementation is still relatively young, and the problems probably wouldn't start until you have been cycling creatine for 15-20+ years.
My advice is that you just dump it, or give it to a friend who takes creatine and lifts a lot more than you, unless you want to try it out and start focusing on strength rather than cardio.

I can't answer your question, but I want to ask you a question. You say you lift weights right, I started lifting about a month ago and I lift every other day (biceps, triceps, shoulders, and back). I probably lift about an hour to an hour and a half each time I lift and do my 30min cardio. My question is, how long do you think it will take me before I will start to see results? I feel in my biceps that they are getting bigger, but that's it, no definition yet. When I remember to do so, I mix my protein shakes myself and consume those (just with protein powder and rice milk). I only lift 5,8, and 10 lb weights. I'm trying to get toned by the spring time. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I tried taking some for a little bit to gain muscle, but it didn't really help.
