    try illifes booth and bennett / uxbridge. ask for tom brownlow (senior partner) this law firm really are the business, with barristers specialising in every subject, from murder to tax issues.

    There is no such thing as a lawyer in the UK. You need a solicitor.

    You should be offered UK legal aid automatically if you are involved in a criminal case and are on welfare. If not then look for one locally with www.yell.co.uk.

    If it's a civil case then go to www.yell.co.uk. Maybe there are some no win no fee available for that too.

    English solicitors generally charge >£150/hour nowadays. So think carefully before you go down a civil case route - it's in their interests to string it out.

    Forgot to mention - you have free - citizens advice for criminal stuff and trading standards for civil stuff - All can be found in yell but they are limited and non-committal.

    Try The American Bar Association but let me point out that if your case is not too complicated in the U,S there are Small Claims Courts where no Lawyer is allowed

    Phone the Law Society and tell them what your problem is - they will put you in touch with a solicitor recommended in that field
