Why are liberals against competition?

Why, when my kids went to a feminist controlled school (all women with facial hair and man-haters the lot of them)

** We could not keep score

** They did away with the GIFTED program

** They did not GRADE 1st - 3rd grade

** No stars were given out for good papers

** Honor Bumper stickers were removed

We had to sink to the lowest child in order that everyone FELT GOOD about themselves.

I heard on the radio today that a school got rid of the HONOR ROLE because ONE PARENT complained that 2 out of her 3 kids did not make the honor role and it made them upset?

SHOULDN'T WE STRIVE TO BE THE BEST?

More liberal crap about punishing success - my higher taxes were the start!

Update:

I did not make this up. The feminists also banned football and soccer at recess for the boys because they said it was too rough. My sons are jocks not pansys. We went to the School Bosrd and got men teachers who played football with the boys ar recess. Our community is Republican - the teachers were liberals from out of town - WE WON!

My greatest complaint. Liberal control of public education!

They hate competition, because they are enemies of capitalism. If we disbanded the NEA, how many of them would be able to compete for their jobs?

We have found another topic we agree on. What, exactly, are we teaching these kids? That it is OK to not try to do your best? I put as much blame on the parents as I do the teachers, simply because the parents let them get away with it (or, in some cases, like the one you mentioned, force it on them). My son, who is in kindergarten, brought home his first report card yesterday, beaming with pride. It would have been horrible to take that away from him, or anyone.

I am glad you beat the system. If more parents showed that kind of interest in their child's education, maybe public education would be something we could be proud of again, and we wouldn't be graduating illiterate kids just "to be fair".

As for your higher taxes though, place blame where it belongs, the wonderful un-funded mandate NCLB.

The liberals are simply against competition and financial success because it is not in touch with their base. The liberal party tries to appeal to those who live off of welfare and public assistance programs and who have not worked a day in their lives. If the liberals where to support finical success and competition then they would lose that base. So very simply the position of the liberal party is one of Political gain and one which jeopardizes the success of this very Country. America was made great because we left a few behind and strove for excellence. Those who worked hard achieved financial success in the early days of this country and transformed this country of illiterate immigrants into a superpower. We will achieve nothing by eliminating competition and hurting those who succeed financially. For this reason the Democrats are not the party for America.

I actually had to listen to some idiot go on and on awhile back about how wrong it is to have grads and standards in schools. What a f*ing moron!

Of course, we live in a country where some teachers refuse to use red ink when correcting papers anymore - apparently, it's too traumatic for the children. I say it doesn't matter WHAT color they use - if your paper is covered in ink, you should be pretty aware that your work was not up to par.

I have also heard that in England, they've done away with the words fail, failure, failing, failed, etc. because it's too stigmatizing - they are using "deferred success" instead. If that's true, we are SCREWED when these uneducated little morons start running the world.

Some schools are doing away with a valedictorian - why reward the kids who work their asses off? I would never send my child to a liberal school - the damned public schools are bad enough!

That doesn't sound liberal to me. Sorry sounds like that parent might be doing someone on the school committee. When one person has that much power then it's more then just politics.

As for higher taxes if you complaining about the property taxes then you can blame President Bush for that. He was the one that increased the demands on education and cut back on the federal education funding. Yep all states went up on their property taxes. Teachers still need to get their pays etc.

Affirmative action, welfare, lower standards of testing. All tactics to make the less intelligent feel better about themselves. It does more harm than good in the long run. When these kids graduate and enter the real world and cant hold a job because they were not challenged when they were younger. It's the dumbing down of society.

Edited answer: I love jerking with you as your questions contain so much hyperbole. I decided to return and give a answer worthy of my time.

If you have not been in the recent job market, you would not recognize it. Working in an office setting (or factory) is now done using teams who self govern. Very little management is used; however, there are a team leaders. Since there is no "I" in team, everyone has to get a long well together. Competition defeats a team rather quickly. It is believed that everyone has something to contribute, and the "sum of the whole is greater than the total." That means "we" are much smarter than "one." We cross-train and multi-task. Your children were being prepared for this new work environment, patterned after the Japanese (Demming Theory), who were beating us in production years ago.

Now, did your children succeed or fail in school and are they succeeding or failing in their current jobs? That would determine if your complaint about their education is valid or not.

Oh, and all those thumbs down, they are from my first comment which I typed over.

Because of their inadequacies. What they can't win by popular support must be secured by a handful of legislators and judges.

Liberals control by mandate, or legislation, and it trickles all the way down to the playground. Our worst enemy are liberal judges on the supreme court forcing their supporters ideas down the throats of people who detest their asinine ideology.

Oh yeah, they also did away with recess, and now some people have to drug their kids just to get them to sit still all day.

thats a good start for the "village" that hillary envisions, when she says the village will raise your children.

because they believe in the communist notion that nothing is fair waaah waaah waaah

so they want to make everyone equal, except, some people will be more equal than others.

    but everyone will suffer equally

and wherever communism is implemented, hundreds of thousands to tens of millions end up dying for some reason or another, must mean its a good system right?
