I am interested in the history. Was Christopher Columbus good to the Native Americans, after he landed on the North American continent?

He wasn't nice to the Native Americans at all. He came to North America and slaughter or enslave Native Americans in his way. Many Native Americans died from overwork or disease.

I agree! Columbus pillaged the Caribbean. He never set foot on North America. Let's celebrate the people who really discovered America; the Native Americans. I am also white of German and Dutch heritage. Columbus Day is just another lame excuse for the government to shut down.

no. he was definitely not good to natives. most everyone has already hit on that though, and some have mentioned that columbus didn't land in north america but instead in the caribbean.
(also, someone mentioned that he never met a native american . . . if you wanna get technical, all people of the americas (north, central, south) are all indigenous to this land before columbus arrived. back then there weren't borders. everyone was "native.")
anyway, columbus day is a day of mourning for natives.

He treated the native peoples he came in contact with extremely good for the time period. The 14 and 15 hundreds were very harsh times. Columbus treated the natives better then the peasants of most European nations. And, far better then most of the later explorers.
Remember to view history from the time it happened, not by today's standards.
If you would really like to read about a wild story, get information on Columbus's last voyage, His first is famous and we all know about it, His last one was something else. He pretended to be a god. Got ship wreaked and stranded for month's. Had to be rescued.
By the way, Columbus never set foot on North America, Never meet a Native American, or did he sign a death warrant for a single prisoner.

First of all, it should be noted that Christopher Columbus never actually landed on what we usually consider to be North America. Through five voyages he visited several Caribbean islands, South American, and Central America. He did not arrive in Central America (which is technically part of the North American Continent) until his fifth voyage. To quote Columbus himself, "As soon as I arrived in the Indies, on the first Island which I found, I took some of the natives by force in order that they might learn and might give me information of whatever there is in these parts." Although he did try to establish diplomatic relations with most groups he encountered, this kind of kidnapping (in order to gain slaves, information, translators, "brides" for his men, etc.) was common. Columbus was amazed at what he called the naive generosity of the natives and used this as a selling point to gain financial support for his voyages. He promised the monarchs of Spain, "As much gold and as many slaves," as they needed. By modern standards, Columbus' behavior was far from good. His financiers, however, considered it quite appropriate.

christopher columbus raped, robbed, enslaved and murdered native americans, and other nations people. he was a terrible person in real life. and to be truthful, the guy never even was the first discoverer of the americas. i think if every one would look up the history like they were told by the other answerer, they would be surprised at what they learned about him. merry christmas. andby the way, he was alone at the time of his death, his family abandoned him.

This is a difficult question. No one was personally there, so we can't really say if he was good or not, for certain. For the people as a whole, however, meeting Columbus did not turn out to be a good thing!

No he murdered them wholesale and used them for slaves this is a FACT just Google Columbus and do some research.

Well, it all depends on your point of view. If you think that:
murduring Natives, stealing and inslaving them, forcing them to abide by Spanish laws, abandon the majority of their culture, vacate their lands to give to the Spanish, introduced dieseases that whipped out families, and stealing their food is not so bad, then I guess you could say he treated them well enough.
