What does it mean when people describe you as "different" and "unique"?

Is it a bad thing? The guy I like described me as this to somebody and I don't know what it means.... do I have a shot with him?

I say, its a good thing. Unless the person who told you twisted it around a bit, and instead of saying "weird" they said "different".

    but i doubt it.

    :)

its usually a good thing. normal people are no fun, its the different ones that make an impression and make people want to know more about them and be attracted to them.

Source(s): a few people described me so, and then i found out they thought i was the best thing since slice and packaged cheese. :) which i personally dont like, but apparently they do. lol.

I've been called unique and different many times.

It has never turned out to be intended as a compliment, as I have now learned.

It goes for any situation, not just dating. if your boss tells you that your idea is different, he really means that he wants a different idea.

If someone says you are different, they really want someone different.

I usually take it as a compliment. I hate conformity. Being unique is a good thing. I dunno about your guy. Why don't you ask him if he'd like to have a drink sometime and strike up a conversation with him?
