What is the white plastic thing that comes with an Ipod?

It looks like it would be a kind of base, to set the iPod into, and it does fit into the slot in the top, but if you try to set it down it just falls over. There is an opening in the bottom which looks like it would hold the cable, but with the cable in there is no way to set it down because the cable is in the way. What is this thing??

It is for the iPod Universal Dock, which is an elegant home base for charging and syncing with your computer or for connecting iPod to your home audio system. And the Universal Dock supports the optional Apple Remote, so you can control everything from afar.

... if you ever get one it will help you to fit the iPod on
