eye for an eye, old west justice?

couple questions...

do you support the death penalty and why.

if you dont, why and what punishment do you see fit for a murderer.

my point is, if a person kills another person in cold blood (not self defense or by reason of insanity) and is proven guilty WITHOUT A DOUBT why shouldnt that person be put to death? dont say human rights and dont say anything religious. the killer did not have those thoughts in mind while committing his crime.

the victim was not given an option of rights before he/she was murdered.

Update:

"punishing" someone the rest of their life is not the answer. they still get 3 meals a day and a warm place to sleep. it is a burden on the taxpayers. the question is about the death penalty.

i agree with the death penalty, i do not agree with the injection or even electric chair. i want them to suffer as they made others suffer. you mentioned an eye for an eye, that is biblical justice. old west justice- vilgilante, hanging ... well i agree with those too. hurt me and mine, we will hunt you down and save the tax payers loads of money. - all its gonna cost of is the price of a bullet or a length of rope.

I do support the death penalty in the instances you gave. For instance, why was (or is, i don't know) Suddam Hussein (SP, srry) on "trial" for over a year? I think it's pretty clear cut what he deserved. A man who has murdered that many people no longer has a right to live, even in jail. I also agree that jail is not all that bad. American jail is much better than what the families of those whom Hussein murdered are living in now. How is that fair? He gets it better than they have? This is just one example of a very famous murderer who should have almost immediately recieved the death penalty. It's not like he could prove anything in a trial!

But like i said, this is just one example. Many other murderers and killers should be put to death. They are a danger to our world and even if confined to a life in prison, can be a threat. If for no other reason, the death penalty is acceptable in the instances you gave just to keep our national and international community safe. I hope this helps.

Yes, but only in specific cases. I find that most people who get executed don't deserve it. However, there are serial killers sitting in jail sending letters and emails to their victims families. We have 5 or 6 people in Canadian jails that the world would be better off if they were dead, but we don't have the death penalty andwhen we did, it was only used on people who killed cops.
