If you have an inside dog, how long can you leave it daily safely?

I want a dog, but I don't understand how people who work or those who like to go out for the day---take the dog out to use the restroom?

Well I guess Im pretty lucky, I can leave my Gertie alone in the house all day, with free access to the whole house, and not worry about her doing anything naughty. Well....by "all day" I mean prolly at most 8 hours. I know that she can hold it for longer than that, but I only work part time, and my fiance works different hours than me, so she's rarely left alone for very long.

But, for example, on thanksgiving, we left the house about 9 am and didnt get home till almost midnight, and she was fine. I wish we could have taken her with us, but she is scared of little kids and I have a 5 yr old brother.

But, I work at a vet hospital where we offer doggie daycare and allot of people do that! We take care of them from 7am to almost 7pm for only $12. They get walked and fed and socialized and have a great time. if your worried about your dog being alone in the house while your working, consider finding a daycare! Its a great alternative to them just being alone, especially if they are trouble makers ; )

Also...I adopted her from the humane society, she was already a year old, housebroken and had graduated a good manners class. I didnt have to worry about a puppy chewing up everything and peeing all over, lol

I work daily and have a dog. I walk him before work, then have someone (either a family member, friend or trusted dog walker) come in during the day to take him out and play with him for an hour or so. He is walked again when i get home and then I spend some quality time with him and walk him before bed. Puppy's will require more time, training and frequent potty breaks but it's do-able.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aUMj9

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Some breeds require alot more attention than others. Of course, most of young dogs will chew and fine trouble. Therefore, if you are going to be putting in a full days work and then some, it's a good idea to use a baby gait or door to sort of, crate the dog into specific areas/are while you are gone while the dog is young. I trained my indoor dog to do his business on doggy pads. Actually, I purchased the flat, large pads that the supermarket sells for people who use them on beds for the elderly or babies. They are less expensive than the doggy wee-wee pads.

If you want your dog outdoor trained, you could hire someone to walk your dog during the day or a family member, etc. It takes persistance, but it sure is worth it. Good luck.

A lot of people who work hire dog walkers, take their dogs to doggy day cares, or paper train them so they can go in the house. The first two are good options, but the second, in my opinion, is a last resort.

Be careful though, a lot of dogs get bored and angry home alone all day, and destroy stuff like crazy. I've seen dogs eat carpets, tear down blinds, shred couches....

    Best of luck

Yes, you need to contact a wolf hybrid rescue...google wolf hybrid sanctuary. There are a few in different parts of the country. Many of them are full..but some might be willing to help or advise. Wild Spirit Wolf and Dancing Brook Lodge are just 2 of them...Dancing Brook is in North Carolina I think. People should not be breeding them..they are not good "pets". It sounds as though you tried to do the right thing, but I don't think most people are able to do the right thing for this animal. Try to find a well run sanctuary that would take him. And good luck.

I read adult dogs can hold for up to 12 hours. If you get a small puppy you may want to research crate training (it's worked really good for us) and you'll have to try to come home and let him out after 3-4 hrs at first.

I have a white pekingese and she can't hold it very long. I had to crate train her, and while I am gone I keep her in one of those big padded pet houses. Then I know she wont have any accidents. You could also put up a doggy door to limit where they can go so that they wont mess up anything.

I have an inside dog and work. He had to be crate trained for a while, but they eventually learn when they grow out of the puppy stage what is permissible. he never goes to the bathroom inside, unless something made him sick....so be prepared for the occasional slip up.

Our dog stays in the garage and you will be amazed at how long they can hold it. If the dog is potty trained then you can leave it in the house ( if you want) but they can hold it a long time. another thing is you could ask a neighbor to take the dog out.
