i know in your heart you know this already, but christmas isn't about the presents at all. i think it has become an obligation to buy presents. you don't have to wait for christmas to buy someone you love and appreciate a present and it shouldn't have to cost anything to show someone how much you love them. with that being said. your kids are older, not that it isn't important to them, but rather, they should be old enough to understand and be ok with the fact that this year there isn't any presents. and not to sound harsh or mean, but the baby won't remember it to be honest. now do you have a tree? if not, you guys can make one. either by painting the wall with one, if you want, or get a big piece of cardboard, you can go to your local grocerie store, they throw out boxes all the time, just ask the person in charge for some boxes, say you are moving and need them whatever, and cut it out to the shape of a tree, glue together some pieces to make it big and stick it on the wall with a nail or something. get all the kids to help decorate it. it has now become a family project and the baby can help, with assistance of course. you can make a special section for the baby and get safe paint and let him or her finger paint or make his or her hand prints on it and save it, there now you have a keepsake of the baby's first christmas. you can use foil to make ornaments, ect..... or cotton balls dipped in food coloring, ect... then you can all cook together, make everything a family thing. involve everyone and have the music going and try to make it as memorable as possible. and look online for hand made crafts that you can make if you really feel the need to hand something out. and you can wrap it in newspaper, i swear that is what my father in law does. it has become his trade mark..lol. well i hope my ranting helped in some way. thinking of you and praying things turn out great.

Sorry to hear of your husbands job loss. I hope he finds another one. If you are in Australia there is such a shortage of skilled people that he shouldn't be out of work long. What about you? Do you work? Do you own your own home, because if you do you probably have enough equity in it to buy your own franchise, which is virtually buying a job.

regardingn presents, maybe gifts are not what the true essence of christmas is about. Perhaps it is a time to come together as a family and count your blessings that you have a happy healthy family, and a dinner together doesnt need to be enough to feed a small nation, and the presents don't need be enough to impress a king. Celebrate the simplicity of your life, and the happiness of togetherness. Cold salad is enough.

Take your family to the beach for Boxing day. Take some photos to remember your lovely grandson when he was just four months old.

I've been where you are. Make your Christmas Dinner. Watch the Parade and all the Christmas movies. You can put a board game or two under the tree compliments of Santa and spend the day playing board games, munching on Christmas Dinner and watching movies.

The greatest gift God could have given you is for all of you to be together, healthy and happy.

    Merry Christmas!

If you can think of some games, like charades or something....

And have a nice dinner, make it special. Like maybe candles...

And say a prayer at the table before eating, while all holding hands. And maybe get each kid to say out loud,..what they are

thankful for..?? This will help them feel somewhat better inside.

Also, if I were you I would sit everone down in the livingroom after

dinner..and read some passages...from the Bible. Have them

draw Angels or whatever...it will keep them busy...God Bless.
