I have plantar fasciitis (big time heel pain); which walking shoes should I get?
I have plantar fasciitis, that really painful foot condition. I'm trying to find a good pair of shoes that will make my feet comfortable and stable but don't know which ones to pick. I have a low arch (flat feet), fyi.
I'm willing to spend about $100.
Thanks for your suggestions.

I've recently been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, and have received orthotics (custom supports). My orthotics are large, and I'm about to make my second trip to the pharmacy to have them shaped down some more. When I put them in my shoes (aside from hurting me), they won't allow my foot to fit properly in my shoes. I saw a product on the rack by Birkenstock, it looks like a more streamlined lift than the product I have, I'm thinking of buying it ($50). My sister has this condition, very bad, and has even had to go to the doctor for a cortisone shot in her foot(very painful and not completely relieving her pain). Do hamstring stretches before getting out of bed and throughout the day. Many folks' condition has been alleviated, while others' have not. Best wishes.

The brand of shoe is not so important as how they fit you. Every foot is different and different brands fit differently from each other. The best shoe should fit you snug in the heel but roomy in the ball and toe with plenty of room for you to slide forward when walking downhill and not hit the front with your toes. Try a few different pairs on and go with what feels the best. Something light weight but with good lateral (side to side) support and lots of cushioning in the heel. Try Rockports, Merrell, Montrail, Clarks, Timberland. Check at a shoe store that specializes in walking and hiking shoes. Trail running shoes are fantastic as they are light weight, have cushioning and offer good lateral support. If they fit too narrow or too wide, don't get them, no matter how good you are told they are. They are no good if they don't fit you just right.

My daughter also has this condition, and all it took was a good running shoe with proper arch support. Doesn't have to be expensive, just something that has an arch to it. She was wearing those silly skater type shoes for a while when her foot started to hurt, so we went to wal-mart picked up a basic running shoe, and she now has no more pain.

Its not the walking shoes that are the main thing, just try and elevate the heal on the sore foot, basically make a slim door wedge shaped cushion and put that in your shoe. Use sponge or something soft yet that can also support your foot. Hope this helps! :D

Try putting a piece of duct tape on it. Its suppose to smother it I hear. If it gets wet or falls off just put another piece on it. Do this for a few days up to a week and it should go away or shrivel up and fall off....Hopefully in time for your appointment...Goodluck! :)
